Hi Guys
I have a 650 litre static tank which takes 5 hours to fill!!!
I also have a solenoid connected up to shut off the flow when tank is full.
I have heard of people filling the same size tank as me in roughly an hour with a booster pump!
1. Is this true in terms of time to fill?
2. Can anyone recommend a pump to use from garden hose?
3. Do I need a special booster pump due to solenoid valve shut off?? To stop burn out,etc
Cheers guys, look forward to your replies I am wasting alot of water and changing resin and filters every 2 months

I think someones telling you porkies with the hour fill up, unless they have a couple of 4040's...?
What R.O do you have?
If its a static setup, does it matter that it takes 5 hours to fill..?(it's full by the time you get back from a days work..?)
What filters are you actually changing every 2months?(assuming pre filters?)
Whats your ingoing & outgoing TDS..?
Whats your water pressure?(get a gauge if you dont have one, they're cheap)

Hi Don
Not sure what the last RO unit was but sure it was just a standard 40.
It is static which works really well. Just concerned about the amount of water going down the drain.
I am changing particle, carbon and the resin every 2 to 2 1/2 months
Ingoing TDS was 275
Outgoing is 000 but was 025
Not sure about water pressure but it is ok but not as strong as my previous house. I have seen the pressure guages on ebay, might get one so I know exactly

My PSI is 40

my 250 ltr tank takes 20 mins to fill. All I use is a 25 ltr DI

Whats the TDS before Resin mate, and also is it a HF4 or HF5?(low pressure membrane or high pressure)
If you have a HF4 you'll need a booster pump as they'll need approx 60/70psi +
This will increase your production & lower your outfoing TDS (meaning you use less resin)
Check this out if you need a booster- https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cbm240e-1in-multi-stage-230v-booster-pum
How much water do you produce a week? Changing prefilters every 2/3 months is about normal, chsnging resin depends in how big your D.I is...?(i've got a 25litre D.I, resin last about a year producing around 2,500-3,000 litres a week with ingoing at 6)
Also have you got a gate valve on your r.o?(tap on waste?)
Adjust it to your preference...
Lower tds but get more waste and slower production
Higher tds but faster production, less waste

My sub pump is faster than that

Takes a bit longer in the winter. Don't know why because the mains pressure is higher in the winter

Wish i could be D.I only, would make life easier...
Colder weather means thicker water means more pressure needed to move it about...
I'd still take that if i could be D.I only! :D
