Title: Which Sill Brush
Post by: johnny bravo on May 06, 2015, 11:11:42 am
I am going to add a SILL brush to my SLX order,     as ive never had one before,

i want to see if they actually do clean the SILLS better than a normal gardiners Dual Trim Brush.

I have a lot of new builds  and some have the sills. i know a normal brush dosent do as good a a job as we would like,    there fore im going to give a SILL brush a try.

any recomendations as to which SILL brush does the better job.       There so many to choose,       Soft / Medium / Hard

its not worth loosing out on cleaning sills to a trad cleaner.

Yes they do, but they are heavier and you have to get used to them. You also need to point the brush head down a bit so the jets are horizontal. It will feel strange as you will see to bottom of the brush doing nothing on the window. It will only come into 'play' when it gets down to sill level. Your natural tendency is to adjust the brush to what appears to be right but you will find the jets are pointing too high up. Its also more difficult to see the jets of water coming out because of the radial bristles.

I have the medium mixed which I've used to around a year. I've taken it off and replaced it with a Supreme soft hybrid which I do like. I will swap back to the sill brush for doing conservatories.

I see Gardiners are out of stock of the sill brush I have at the moment.

I use the same brush as Spruce and find it really good, what i did to compensate the weight is use a carbon gooseneck i also found for me it keeps the brush at the right angle it needs to be.

I had CILL brushes , but will never used them again now .

The new gardiner medium white hybrid brush is much improved and cleans the CILL easier enough

what size goosneck do you use,     is it the 10 inch as you see Alex Gardiner is  using in his video cleaning windows

have you a link.

i dont want to order a good pole + brush,    2 flow taps, + a  supreme soft hybrid + a sill brush.

if theres anything which can come in use  in my order,       i can get it now while postage would be free

yes i use the 10" 55 degree one similar to this http://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/all-products/water-fed-poles/goosenecks-pole-fittings/super-lite-carbon-fibre-alloy-goosenecks-fittings/quick-loq-carbon-gooseneck-10-25cm.html I notice now though they only sell quick loc versions my version just screws onth the brush. They recommend a 45 degree one for work under 25ft but i just couldn't get on with it, i personally prefer the 55 degree one.

the price of them if you just wanted to try what you already have now would virtually give you free postage if you decided to get one.

I always spell it cill as that was the way the English South Africans spelt it. However, spell checker doesn't like that spelling and is quite happy with sill which doesn't look right to me.

So on the back of your post I have include cill in the dictionary.   ;D

Thank you
