started the machine this morning and there was a slight knocking for a second or two on start up. The when i wound the unloader up to operating pressure (just under 200 bar) it started knocking loudly. Not sure where its coming from. Definitely sounds like metal on metal. Never happebed before. If i run the machine at about 170 bar it doesnt knock.
Any ideas?

I think best bet is to get it to Rutland pumps and let Ben take care of it, and take it from there.

Gearbox?
Our Zeta did same thing recently - we have had gearbox changed and its as good as new

Machine is belt driven. I have located the source of the knocking. It was a new hose end i hadnt adjusted properly when i replaced a hose, knocking against the machine frame.
Sometimes its the small things ::)roll
And as much as i appreciate the knowledge that Ben has provided since he joined the forum, Is Rutland pumps going to be the answer to every post on here? :-*

To be perfectly honest and not wanting to rock the boat I am happy to lurk and offer advice where and when I can, the idea behind this wasn't to drum up business thats what we have marketing for. I am happy to pay for marketing but I don't want RUTLAND PUMPS brandishing all across the site because to be honest if I were you lot seeing that all the time would get on my tits :) I'm just here to be friendly and search for answer to questions from my customers about cleaning various different surfaces / stones et where to be honest I know far less that you do.

Matty, I'm based in Scotland, bit far for me to travel just on a forum recommendation, no matter how many times this place is mentioned ;D ;)

I thought the same when I was recommended Rutland. I am in Liverpool and he was the other side of the country, I thought get someone local.
So had a look round to see what's what, as I new to pressure washing, read a few posts on here, nearly bought a machine or 2 from a guy in Scotland. Really close to it.
Instead sent emails to about 5 companies, not naming any but got names off here and eBay as well as internet.
Looked at prices, spoke with them and took it from there.
Decided to buy from Rutland and am very happy I did,
I have never met Ben, or even seen a pic of him. I don't benefit in anyway shape or form, as you have seen from some of his posts, he's very honest and extremely helpful, so it's a win win situation just having his phone number, and knowing you can just ask him anything about the machine.
Only reason I post is to share my experiences, whether that be in buying equipment or using a company, ( if you use wfp I would recommend Richard from circuit hydraulics for all your bits and bobs, bought off him loads ).
If you need a commercial window cleaner I would recommend myself, but if you want experienced pressure washing services in north west then I would recommend Chris Scott as I haven't much experience.
I just bought a 10 lpm wfp pump from vyair today and will be happy to give feed back to those that ask.
