Hi guys
I had a brain aneurysm 2 weeks ago and have just got out of Basildon hospital.
Having time off laying on my back has given me a lot of time to think about life, work and stress and marketing.
I generally keep busy averaging 4-5 jobs per day 4-5 days a week but I don't do any marketing to my old customers.
As I've been told to take it easy now And have someone doing the cleaning for me but I want to try and smarten up how I advertise and the money I spend. I don't want to steal other people's ideas or secrets but what ways have you guys found are successful for getting old customers coming back to you or getting recommendations.
Thank you for your help

I think the most effective way to market to existing customer is phoning them.
if I had staff and were housebound I would get a big map and Mark every customer on it , every job you get you look on the map and call every customer in the area or on the route and just be honest ..... "We are driving past your house next week do you need anything cleaning?"
Even if they don't you could remind them about your £10 recommendation voucher you give for every recommend :D

Tough break, hope all is well now and your back in full circulation soon. But like Mike says ring round existing customers and ask the question, you will be surprised how many jobs you pick up, also any mobile numbers you have send them a quick text. if they don't need you now they can easily store your number in their phone.
I also keep diary notes of any one who says I don't need anything at mo but would like x doing in x number of weeks. this means you can give them a quick call and fit them in around other local work.
Also having post cards explaining that they had their carpet cleaned 12 months ago and do they require anything at mo, I find a lot of customers save these cards if they don't need you yet (a lot easier to find in the draw than a business card)

first of hope you make a speedy recovery
4-5 jobs a day heres a few things that first enter my head
why so many ?
If you need the money try downsizing as you have just witnessed life can be very cruel
are you reaching your max job ticket on each job 4-5 should be bringing you in £300 to £500 a day over £2000 a week
Are your advertising costs to much ? try free marketing as Mike says ring them
If you have time while you are recovering create a good unique blog using information marketing and reach out to people who you don't need to market to and offer them solutions to their problems .
Try to think more like a customer and not a cc and while you are recovering build your self some cheap niche websites each one will cost about £40 to £51.50 a year to run one customer you're in profit .
got to go good luck

Get Booked Up will help you market to existing customers and will do something similar to Mikes map idea when it comes to quotes, offers to existing customers in the area etc.
You can start with the FREE version then as you use it more and more can upgrade and lock increased functionality all from the original data you input.

Wow Luke
That's serious and make sure you fully heal before attempting too much.
There are a lot more important things than carpet cleaning.
Some good advice so far, I've also been pretty useless at marketing to existing customers and the Get Booked Up thing looks good.
Cheers
