Title: Supermarket clean
Post by: tomasxguty on May 03, 2015, 09:47:28 pm
Hi all. I was ask to do a supermarket fortnightly. When I priced it up the store was almost empty. Went by yesterday and noticed they have put lots of stuff by the windows. There are some boxes and loose stuff on pallets [promotional products mostly].  I wonder now how I am going to clean the windows from inside if half of the glass is obscured. Do you clean just what you can reach or do you ask staff to move things away from the glass so the entire window can be cleaned? Sorry if this has already been asked.
Btw, thank you all for this great forum. My business have grown exponentially thanks to your willingness to share your ideas with others..

Tell 'em when you'll be there.
And ask for the windows to be clear.
State that if they're not accessible that they won't be cleaned but they'll still be charged full price.

2 things you should not do under any circumstances:
1) Reduce the cost because you haven't cleaned x windows.
2) stand around with your thumb up your arse waiting for them to be cleared by the spotty monkeys that usually end up working there.

Just do what you can get to and leave the rest but always make a point of telling, or try to tell, the person who is responsible.

My experience in the past is no one will really bother or notice and if they do,  just explain it.

To put it bluntly and no insult intended, to them, you are just another cog in the wheel.

There's also the question that should you move stuff, and a customer falls over it, who is responsible? Said in the right way that usually settles any possible arguments quite quickly.

Thank you for your replay.
I didn't intend to do any moving in case of breaking something. I'll pop in there and explain that if there is no clear access to the windows I won't be risking any moving or climbing over the stuff.
As you point out we are just another cog in the wheel ..
