I changed my resin to this tuesday and don't no if my tds meter is wrong, but the lowest reading i have had is 2ppm .
My twin 2020 pumped ROs where replaced 12 months ago so its not them .
I was using tulsion and thought the quality had diminished but this ionics doesn't even take it to 0 tds ?
-
Tds meters are really sensitive..if you use the same one for tap readings do 3 or 4 tests.
I use two meters one in the house and the others in the van.
I can't see it being dodgy.
-
It could just be a dodgy batch but make sure you have the D.I. bottle connected the right way and the tube that
runs down the inside of the bottle hasn't come lose.
In other words make sure the water is filtering through the whole of the bottle and not just the top.
Check your tap TDS and if it hasn't changed too much then your meter is working o.k.

I've been using resin for 12 years now & have tested many brands over that time. I'm in the process of evaluating this Ionics new "super duper" resin (their claim not mine) & it isn't looking good at this point. After the first fill it is currently the worst resin I have ever had experience of- & that is saying something!!! I have another two fills to go so I will see how it performs overall but from experience I don't see it changing. At this point I'm beginning to think we've all been done over & this resin is just some re-branded cheap rubbish!! ::)roll

Interesting post.
I was intending to order some of this over the weekend, but now I'm having second thoughts now.
I did read other recent posts about this resin, but a couple of members have sung its praises for being the best resin they have tried.
Glad I saw this post.

Weird stuff this resin malarkey! Tulsion was brilliant when it first came out then went right down the pan a year or two back - I've stuck with it and it varies in quality. I wonder how many companies actually make the stuff? Tulsion comes from India I believe but their quality control seems to be pants.
-
It is easy for a company to recycle old spent resin as long as you have a good supply of spent resin. Even mixing it with good stuff.
-
It is so easy to recycle resin and mix it with new stuff. As long as you have a good supply of used stuff. What would effect the quality is the way its stored so this leaves a opportunity to reduce quality inadvertently.
-
slapdash how do you recycle it, to put back into di vessel ???

Do some research on you tube its not that complicated.

Hi Dave,
I shared a bag of Tulsion resin with other cleaner about 3 years ago.
I used the remaining bit I had left over from that batch in my DI a year ago. My di vessel is 6 liters. I will report that its jolly good stuff, but the other cleaner said it was rubbish - same bag.
He got that bag from Pure Freedom.
I just bought a replacement bag from Daqua as it will be time to change the resin shortly. I asked him if he would like to share this bag and his response was an emphatic no. ;D
So what's the difference? Same water, same resin but different r/o's. His is a Merlin and mine is a 4040. And we use more water a day than he does. But he is adamant that the resin is at fault.

davids3511: If you watched the video on you tube and if you have a meager understanding of science and I meaan this in a good way. You will see that after first exposing the resin to a caustic mix the to acid mix the proceeds will be neutral and thing else left over can go down your kitchen drain as both of these left over will be salt solution or a good drain cleaner as you would buy of the shelf at the super market. If you need to know more just shoot I will try to help. But don`t listen to the eviro freaks who don`t really understand the process and just enjoy a argument.

Well this is total pants do not buy ,looks like it's BS

Yeah I watched that the other day did you see the fumes coming off it,lot of messing about if you ask me
-
That video.
LOL
What a total waste of time. And the piddling little amount he managed to regenerate!
How long would it take to regerate 25 litres? about 5 days I'd say from that video.
But even if you spend a day doing it, that's a day you haven't window cleaned, and so you've lost £200 to save about £80, and that's not even counting the cost of the chemicals and equipment you'd need.
The only reason to do it would be for fun, if that's what floats your boat.

Well I phoned ionics today they are picking up Monday ,will be replaced when they have new stock
