Title: pure freedom hose reels with extending hose guide

Does anyone use these and if so do they extend far enough to clear van doors?

Leegls  bought one. I'm sure he will be along at some point.

One of the local lads bought a single one - had no end of issues with the thread and barb that screws into the manifold. On his second manifold. Now its leaking like mad again.

The moveable fairleads don't appear to extend out that far (57cm), certainly not past an open back 'barn' door of the van.  Whilst this idea looks good in theory, it may be less practical the practice.

Firstly I would imagine that the further the adjustable front rollers extend out the more leverage and hence the more likely hood of damage, especially when reeling in.

You also need an area for the extension to return to behind the hose reel. The reason for having this type of setup is because you are limited for space in the first place.

One of our trainers at Impact 43 had those double decker hose reels in his demo van.  They were those reels but didn't have the moveable front rollers. I didn't rate them then as only one person could reel in his hose at a time. This is the type of item that you have to assign one person to reel in both hose reels while the other is occupied doing other things.  Reeling in a single reel can be a pain for me, more so if I had to do a second one soon afterward.

Cheers spruce , I'm almost tempted by the power up reels but the reels themselves look quite flimsy.

We have the double stack reels on 2 of our vans and have no problems.

The guides are great from our point of view as we operate from the side, so you don't have to extend the guide too much

to achieve your chosen angle.

working from the side isn't an option for me as no room to put reel near side door , think i will have to go with rollers through the floor .

I've got a set without the extensions, cracking bit of kit, saves a lot of space

ste - what kind of connectors do you have on the inlet side as i hate the brass elbow ones and want the proper stainless professional connectors as on the reduce reels .

Also are the bushes/bearings plastic as it says on website ?

cheers
