 ;D ;D ;D

So the tank is free standing in the middle of the van ??

It would have to be in a frame and bolted down

It'll be fine until you slow down too fast - hit something solid - then the problems begin!

425kg (inc tank) flying 'through' you.

Exactly,

So tank is long ways down the middle of the van, sorry for laughing, but it sounds like it's an upright tank ??

If so you going to have to change it, it will have to be against bulk head, to strap it, or have a flat tank and board it in

STRAP it against the wooden or steel bulkhead on 4 anchor points., defeats gravity.   dangerous the way you have it.
a flat tank would be safer in the middle.

Fix roller blade wheels to it and drag It behind the van. It'll be safer.

What van do you have ? only asking as I have a 400 L upright tank against bulkhead in a peugeot expert  ratchet strapped with no issues.
If the only reason it won't fit is because of  a tap, think outside the box, there must be a way around the problem.

Is the van ply lined on the sides if so there is about 4-6" so you will have to cut a section out and slide tank over a bit more.

I bought a bigger tank and wanted a shelf on the far side to put Merlin on, ended up 2" to big so went to see me mate in dealership body shop and he cut the wood out and cut a small piece of body work out and welded another piece in for me, tank fits and Merlin fits nice and tight in the side, I just got to sort john guest fitting out now.

It's not 'illegal' but not safe either.

A few years ago I fitted another outlet to a 500L tank, simply by drilling hole and using a metal outlet fitting to cut the thread in the plastic, fitted washer and never had a leak from it.

If i've read your other post correct and you have it against the bulkhead then yes its safe. The question of is it legal ?.... Will be answered by telling us if it is securley strapped down to the floor. If it is, and its also against your bulkhead and secured to that then most probably the answer is................yes its legal.  Your main question needs to be.......can the tank move ? If it can you need to cure it with restraint (strap/bar etc.).

a 400 upright shouldnt be too wide,  just change your tap to one with a bend on it,    similar to the one from purefreedom, large at £28,  should make life easier,     get some flexi hose off wintecs by the metre,  very bendy.    just get a lot, take it around the back of the tank if easier to connect up to the pump.
where you from

thanks for the replies, its  a 400 upright. i have a berilgo 75 hdi with a 350 upright in at the moment but i wanted to put a hose reel in at the rear door & have the set up tim gq made, so i measured the tank up & it fits just but i forgot about taps cos the one i use for backpacks is quite bulky & i need that keeping

i never thought about cutting out the ply lining i will try that

look on my posts,   setup for a 2 man system    theres a link for a tap of purefreedom, £19 its got a bend on so your hose to pump fits down the side of the tank , then connect to your pump

waterfitting for 2 reels, this tap should be better

Pic sent mate

Gained 5"

But am sure you can change your outlet to a side turning one, into hose split hose with t piece into 2
1 goes through the pump into reels as normal
2 goes along hose with a in line hose tap in it and this can be used to fill barrels or back packs.

I think you should think about this way all bits will cost less than £40,
Tap outlet is about £26 inline tap £6 T piece about £1 bit of hose ?? U probly got loads of small pieces laying about

I would set the second one up using a second pump to speed up filling barrels and that.
U can get small 45 psi pumps for £15 and it be good enough.
