When insuring your van do you say that you carry inflammable or toxic substances, I have never claimed this before, but I suppose some chems are toxic. Its going to be an extra £120 if I say that I do.
Thanks
Kev.

C'mon , somebody must know, I have to insure my van tomorrow morning.

Depends if they blow up in an accident or cause severe burns to others or rescue services. Generally insurers specifically make the policy null and void if gas cylinders explode or toxic substances emit gases or corrosive chemicals into the air or onto surfaces. Better to pay £120 than pay for the 500 metres of motorway you charred and dissolved out of your own pocket.

Thanks Dave, does everyone claim this ?

In all the years I was working I never specified this on my application. Probably through ignorance.
However, the amounts we carry on our vans are probably negligible especially compared to the amount of highly inflammable fuel in the vans fuel tank. I think on balance it is not an issue; but that's just my view.

Thanks, yes you are right, I spoke to another person when i rang the insurance company again and they confirmed that its just very large amounts that you have to declare.
