I got a free sample pack from Altec the other day and thought I would give Ultimate master today on some upholstery (synthetic pile dralon type thing quite an easy clean). I was quite impressed and thought I would give it a go as my chem of choice of the average job for a while. I like the fact it is self neutralizing so in effect you can mix it up for extraction use a spray gun to spray it down then extract with it too, saving mixing up a separate prespray.
Does any one else use it and how do you get on?

I used it for years, in fact since 1995 its a realy good product, but it wrecks alloy pump head especially pumptec
if I was using a flojet type pump I wouldn't have any hesitation, even Altec use special chemical black coated resistant pumps in there machines which says a lot

It has been my choice after having experience of most other chems, and will remain my main choice. I used it in portasbles for years without any problems and have used it in truckmounts for the last 12 years. Doesn't eat my brass jets at all and everything internal is clean as a whistle. We do live in a soft water area, so that helps.

I use it , its one of those products i never feel screwed buying , even though i have my diy powder and make my own prespray , I use UM on some of the better places .
No problems here .

just do a search on ultimate master on here ? You will find that most folk that have used it over the years have had problems

Its a good blend of several ingredients but i cant see anything unique in there , those that have trouble with it would probably have issues using other powders intank . Some common sense also , dissolve in warm water and put an acid through your system to clean it now and then .
Alltec use an anodized pump head and so do Ashbys ... to me that suggests they put some extra thought into their machines and would make me choose them .

Any other Altec chems that stand at as really worth a try? The citrus prespray looks good but I haven't tried it yet.
I got a discount voucher with my free samples so i will make the best of it....

Ul;timate Master and Formula 90 are my standard chems cant fault either of them they do a good job. I have never had an issue with brass couplings or pumps, pre mixing in a bucket of warm water then pour into tank (portable) i also find that the vac pipes are always internally clean. I do run warm water with white vinegar through my system once a week which keeps the pressure pipes clear and free of build up.

Hi guys,
I wanted to use ultimate master as a pre spray but what's the best dilution rates for this as the tub only has dilution rates for going in the portable for rinsing.
Yes I am a novice ha!

Its the same dilution...... I think the idea is you only mix one chem up in the tank or the porty then use that to prespray using the wand or a spray gun, then extract. I haven't given it a real test yet for any length of time but I think its a great idea. I believe you can do the same thing with F90 too.

Ah ok that makes sense, thanks for your reply.
I used it today on my own house for the first time using citrus pre spray without getting great results but like I say it was my first time cleaning carpets and probably didn't pre spray and agitate well enough.
Got to improve my technique

Using a grandi brush. Water was still filthy when emptying just was hoping for better results, probably wasn't liberal enough with the pre spray
Any tips very welcome

If using as a prespray i put it on thick , ... approx half a mug in half a bucket of warm water , mix well , put into machine tank , spray with a lance if possible , agitate and do whatever . Then fill the machine up and the remainder in the tank forms your extraction dilution rate .

get yourself som F90 powder or Oneclean its the Beesknees it knocks the socks off other chems ! Period

How do you mean, do you mean the second time you cleaned, the water was still filthy, after emptying the waste tank after the first clean?

I thought that was the idea to have dirty water coming out of the machine when you emptied it.

I only cleaned once, the carpets definitely looked better and the water in the waste tank was dirty but I could still see some traffic areas so probably just need either more pre spray or better agitation or maybe both.

Just remember that you cant always get traffic areas, especially if heavily soiled, looking like the less worn areas of carpet. The traffic lanes will have less pile due to wear and deterioration and so will not reflect light as well and will always look different even when absolutely clean.
