Post by: mark m on April 04, 2015, 02:31:20 pm
I have decided that the completion run by Terry Burrows at the show will be the fastest window cleaner to clean 3 windows all different shapes using a 6" squeegee so should be fun the cost will be £1 going to cancer research Unger have very kindly donated the prizes --

1. Prize for the winner – a hamper on window cleaning tools, including products from our premium ErgoTec Ninja range.

 2. Goody bags with product samples for EVERYONE who enters the competition, which will be sent directly to them immediately after the show

Depends on the rules.  Do they still do the 'swab and squeegee at one pass' method? - holding the applicator just in front of the squeegee and making a single pass on the glass?  Ok if the glass is clean to start with, but I don't believe you can actually clean glass doing that.

I reckon if you could reach all the edges without moving your feet, then the method should be to scrub all the glass first, then squeegee it off afterwards and finish with any necessary detailing work.

That would make a meaningful competition - actually cleaning a dirty window, as we all do each and every time during our normal working day ::)roll

The fastest window cleaning malarkey where we see Terry Burrows doing whatever it is are just a farce. It's not the fastest window cleaner in the world its 'The fastest geezer that can do something totally unrelated to window cleaning but that might to the ignorant appear ever so slightly like some sort of half-cocked attempt at cleaning'.

It is in fact an insult to professional window cleaning businesses.

I do agree, it's just someone moving a squeegee round a piece of glass, sections are missed everywhere,

I also believe that a completion should consist of proper rules were the glass needs to be cleaned corner to corner, with any sections missed resulting in a 15 second penalty.

I use both hands all day long and consider myself to be quick, with high standards, I couldn't get away with leaving 8" triangles all over the window were I had missed.

I can clean the outside of an average size  McDonald's restaurant in about 7 mins inc drive thru. All sills wiped with moisture pouring out me fore head 😰😰😰😅😅, using 14" unger blade

Yeah lol the quickest bloke at cleaning an already clean bit of glass. I'd like to see what it would look like on a few panes of glass with a couple of oak trees over em that hadn't been done for 3 months or so lol
