Is buying equipment on eBay bulletproof if paid for on PayPal?

Are you referring to  buying something and it not turning  up?

I'd trust feedback more than  paypal, if they have been a member of ebay for quite a few years and have 100% feedback then I would feel ok buying from them

ask them if you can come and view the item, they usually make some excuse up if they are dodgy.

You wont get any protection if you were to buy a portable and then it turns up and after the first job a vac dies.

That said you would get the same on any private sale.

Protection is only if its not as described or doesn't arrive.

I bought on ebay once never again. I always say do not bid too much find out cost of parts availability and cost of repair.  Allow for it

I have  made around 500 transactions on E bay, probably as many buying as selling. I have bought a lot of tools and carpet cleaning equipment (second hand) and have as yet not had a major problem.

I would recommend it if you know what your after and are prepared to wait for a good example before jumping in, and also know the value of the item you are buying and don't exceed it.

Obviously good feedback from the seller is a must.

Be patient, understand how E bay works and there are some real bargains to be had out there.

you really need to know a bit about what you are buying in order to make an educated guess as to whether it is going to be a good buy or suitable in the first place. then you need to ask yourself if it is such a bargain why is it on sale anyway. I buy and sell a lot on ebay but sometimes a bit of investigation will save you a lot of money. Where your livelihood is dependant on the tools you own an investment in safeguarding you income is always wise. If you are buying second hand it is always a pig and a poke. I have had bargains and also binned stuff after a short time of use. The things I sell do not have any guarantee because I do not know if they are going to break down next week.
