Did a quote today for a fish importer the carpets did'nt look dirty but the stink was incredible, although the staff were oblivious to how bad it was, they are having a VIP visiting next week so want it cleaning and the smell getting rid of.
The smell comes off the wellies that the factory staff wear who walk through the office .
They also want all the safety floor cleaning and the painted metal staircase ( every where the workers walk)
The carpets are generic commercial carpet tiles I'm hesitant to LM clean them due to the smell but if I did what would you all suggest is the best LM chemical for bad odours?
What about the hard services? I would guess any cleaner would do as long as the fish residue was removed

Just searched 429 and it seems to be more an anti-infectious treatment rather than a designated odour counteractant.
But the search also brought up JKs website with many alternatives to use

The active ingredient in 429 was originally used to deodourise fishing trawlers I am led to believe. There are no magic bullets for odour removal the first and foremost step is to remove as much of the substance which is creating the odour. In this instance it is obviously the fish residues in the carpet and on the hard surfaces and the bacteria and other nasties which are feeding on it. My attack would be to heavily pre-spray with Enzall, agitate and leave a decent dwell time before extracting with red hot water. Once Iwas satisfied as much of the residues have been removed, I would spray the whole area with Formula 429+ and leave. The 429 is residual and will go on dealing with anything left in the carpet which could cause ongoing problems. You could also add the 429 to the rinse water as well. Enzall will also deal with the hard surfaces as well. Drying the carpet as fast as possible will also help.

Yep, spray the lot. As long as its on the surface it goes on working.

Mike you won't get rid of smell.
Do the clean the day before the royal visit and thermal fogg it with a good deodoriser the night before when the staff leave. It will smell pretty in the morning.

Paul, I will suggest the night before as I do believe getting rid of the smell will be difficult, I don't believe it's just on the floors I also priced a full wash down of all the walls, woodwork and painted surfaces but it was not accepted

Nemesis odour remover is very good I've been using it of late I'm quote taken by it.

I thought that already, but I think they are going to use their own cleaning staff to do the wash down ,
the more I think about it the more I realise I will be on a losing battle against the smell, in some areas they only want the walkways cleaning, in a changing room which is hard floors there are lockers which will be filled with stinking overalls and boots
I think like Paul suggested I need to go in the night before and give everything a good dose of something smelling pretty, even if it just mask the smell for the visit.
I'm going to send them an email outlining the condition that we will use all our proffesionalisn to remove the odour but due to the nature of the premises and type of contamination no guarentee can be offered that the smell will not in the long term return.

I wouldn't have even quoted for this job, cant stand the smell of fish, makes me want to puke, cant even walk down the fish isle in morrisons without wanting to gag :'( :'( :'(

So lets get this right a VERY IMPORTANT PERSON is going to a fish importer and they are trying to almost eradicate the smell of fish...............................not being a vip I would expect it to stink of fish(do they want you to paint the grass like before the real VIP (the queen)) arrives................weird world we live in...................Alan(bored in Swindon)

Cleaned the carpets on Thursday, although I was there on Tuesday to clean the hard floors.

Which although is a carpet cleaning chemical I used it on the hard floors, I sprayed it down, scrubbed it with a greenpad then used a wet vac to vac up the residue. It cleaned the floor extremely well (although they were straight forward so not a big deal) the smell from the odor kill is very powerfull it really get on your chest as you spray it down.
On Tuesday I also post-sprayed the carpets and gave them a scrub with the rotary. on the Thursday when I went back the fish smell in the canteen and on the carpets was barely noticeable, you could still smell it but it was not as bad I then bonneted all the carpets again with the odour kill.
I know the smell might be just masked by the odour kill and return but for what they wanted it worked perfect, I told them to smell it tomorrow and if it has returned I will go in and spray it again as they are having the visitors on Tuesday so at least it will smell nice while they are there.
I might pop in next week and have a smell to see how it is performing.

what ratio did you mix the OKP ? I use it all the time in nursing homes and sheltered accommodation's but I use it at 20 to 1 through my Cimex and a buff pad
