Bought some vibram five fingers while in New York,
Decided to wear them today for work as a trial..
Results- amazing!
So comfortable, incredible grip on slanted roofs, good feel and grip on ladders. There stupidly light, so feel like your not dragging big old boots or trainers about.
There only going to be good for the summer, but I think their my new work shoe for definite.
Using wfp wasn't any different (obviously) except you probably feel more comfortable being on your feet all day, it's also nice that they dry out super fast if wet, and can be thrown in the washing machine and dry within a couple of hours.
You can wear socks with them as well - five fingers socks, but today it's warm enough without,
I highly rate them, I thought they'd be uncomfortable, boy was I wrong, the only real negative is the lack of support, but that's really not an issue unless your prone to falling down curbs etc !

After flip flops, they have to be the most inappropriate work shoes imaginable.

I have two pair, wore them casually all summer last year. Not best things for work though.

Because real men can stand on roofs, fat men break tiles,
Each to there own, for me there amazing, the soles are as hard as normal trainers.
There is no access to the back of this house with wfp, and the customer doesn't let me take the hose through the house, we have to use there ladder for the back, never felt safer than wearing these on a roof, the grip is immense,
I think they look cool! :D

They look camp and won't give your arches any support. No protection for your feet whatsoever. Next you'll be wearing stockings as they're lighter than trousers or pants if you live across the Atlantic pond

Arches in engineering are never supported from below. An arch is strongestwhen weight is placed on top of it.
Arch supported footwear weaken the muscles/tendons in the arch of the foot and can actually cause problems.
Have a google for 'barefoot running' and have a read about the benefits of minimalistic running shoes. And you'll find the only pro-over engineered running shoes science is produced - funnily enough - by the running shoe companies, who want you to shell out for them.
However, I think Vibram five-fingers look daft and I'd never stand on a pitched roof like that these days.

I love how some of you think that its hard work standing on a pitched roof! It's an easy house.
If was a pain we wouldn't do it, buts it's a piece of cake for us,
Some of you lot are such wimps and obviously fat!

There super comfy my work Mate has bought a pair for summer now as well, we wore them all day again today and they are abusolutly amazing, so much grip, they fit like a glove and there more comfortable than regular trainers,
Remember guys - we're all different - some of you might prefer wearing big ugly boots, others not, it's all personal preference, get over it!

Stop being a dipstick Jakey ;D...and you are wrong vibrams are minimalistic running shoes
for barefoot style running and don't give the same support.
Most people have climbed on roofs at some point in this game....and prefer not to
because of a safer alternative. I will cross my fingers for you that you get to my age
in one piece and get a chance to be as fat and content as I am :)

ive been to new york twice now jakey(in summer for 2 weeks in 2009 and again at xmas in 2010)first time i went i also took a trip to new york state and saw a wild black bear while swimming in a large lake! ;D
i also went business class with british airways for £220!(normal price is around 3k).
fantastic city but nice to get back home.great view from the top of the rock though innit?hope you went up in the express elevator?awesome! ;)
