Don't understand from the tap which filter goes where. thought that there would be an instruction diagram.

There is a diagram of which is the inlet, outlet to waste and outlet to pure on their website if this is the housing you bought.

http://www.vyair.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=277

Remove the membrane from its packaging. Insert the membrane into the housing with the black brine seal at the feed end (ie feed the membrane in with the brine seal end going in last). Push the membrane firmly to ensure it is fully inserted.

link how to put membrane and housing together:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iP0t25qn7HM
ensure you remember flow direction. use vaseline on orings, when inserting a membrane ensure that the side with no seal goes in first. do not drag the side with the seal through housing.
1/2 inch blanking cap goes on the  supply side, 1/2 inch opening  on the opposite sideof the housing is your product, the other one 3/4 inch is you waste.

how many filters do you have?  if 2 20 inch ones: first one should be the one without casing, second with plastic caps in simple terms.
if 3: particle filter , gac ,block carbon  in this order if i remember right...:(

Hi martin

I paid for the membrane to be pre installed.

Ive also 3 other filters, two of them are attached together by a metal bracket they have blue outer casing. the other one is a smaller filter with a clear casing.
I know that I might be sounding very thick but ive never done this before. Im now starting to wish I had just bought a complete set....!!!!

There are a couple of photos of mine on this thread

Water comes in at the bottom, through a solenoid valve, up the right hand side and into the first prefilter which is a sediment filter.  The second prefilter joined to the first is a carbon block (I now use Fiberdyne filters from Gardiners). The outlet from the C/B filter then goes to the inlet of the 4040 (yellow hose). The waste outlet of the 4040 is at the top and it has a brass gate valve on it to throttle or restrict the waste. The other outlt at the top of the r/o next to the waste valve is the pure outlet which goes directly into the DI vessel and after the di into the holding tank on the other side of the garage.

two blue filters go first. you should see flow arrow(s) on them, you have to unscrew them as pre filters may be still in packaging.
if there is no flow  arrows you have two pre-filters only described in the previous post.  second picture from spruce.
his supply inlet goes from right to left.
clear housing is you resin container.
once connected flush your fiters prior to connecting to ro. then connect a hose to ro and  flush it with the valve open for 5-15 min or so.
first few minutes of permeate production will be high tds so it needs to be discarded to drain prior to connecting di.
once ready connect your di  with resin.
