Title: 13 storey tower block
Post by: Pureandclean on March 16, 2015, 11:40:44 pm
Is it possible to clean 13 storey block with wfp?  If so what length pole would be needed?

They longest pole I have seen  is 80ft ionics make one as well as gardiners.
For 13 floors  you will need a pole over  100ft not sure if any uk brands make them.
It would probably be better to absail at that height.

Definitely not.

7 storeys, just.
8 rare.
9 or more-not that I've ever seen

Didn't Jeff Brimble do a self made pole in excess of 100 foot?

Rob ;D

No. He used an Emporium pole at 87'
He was my inspiration for wanting a 100'+ pole. (I've a 110' job)
I bought enough HS extensions to do it with a Gardiners extreme but it cannot be done safely.

I think at that height you would hav to wfp out of a cherry picker

Safely?

It would be pointless regardless, you wouldnt be able to exert sufficient pressure on the glass  to have any effect.

50'.

You may be surprised at how little pressure you need on the glass at height, bud.
Unless there's a bird turd, the everyday grime & dirt levels lower the higher you go.
And there's no spiders at 80'
If there were, I'd leave 'em. That is one determined spider! ;D
The difference from 50' to 60' isn't massive but 60' to 80' is worlds apart.
In levels of dirt and in ease of poling.

 ???

I live 14 floors up and I've yet to see a spider up here inside as well as outside in the corners of the window frames. Insects this high are rare. The occasion summer time bee along with the odd moth but definitely no spiders. Also, as posted above, the windows up here stay cleaner than the windows lower down but the wind is stronger even on a calm day.

Using a pole up to the 13th floor, yeah, right, sure, dream on. I'm also not so sure a cherry picker would go almost this high but I may be wrong on that.

You could get a 100' cherry picker then pole the last 40 odd feet, I suppose?

Can you imagine that. 100' up, thats a long way and then youve got to operate a 40' foot pole from a poxy cradle with no room to spare on all sides. We think we have it bad on the ground with the hose catching on wheelie bins. That would be a nightmare from hell kind of job.

You can actually get cherry pickers that will operate up to 200'. It'd be a lot easier to do it that way and just pole the windows without too much effort from their actual height from the gorund. Using a pole in a cradle isnt easy, in fact its bloody hard,  particularly at length when at ground level youre used to being able to take a couple of steps back and forwards to make room for yourself.

Was just thinking out loud,bud.

Like I say, my highest job is 110'.
I may cherry pick some of it one day but not at the moment.
I've never poled from a cherry picker.
Only trad work from a cradle higher than I could pole.

I never trad out of a cradle but I have wfp out of cherry picker loads of times.

Trick is to tie your hose around something in the basket, this stops it from pulling, leave a little slack in the basket to connect to.

Happy days
