Chatting to a fellow windy who measures the output of each membrane - he found that one always deteriorates far quicker than the other two so simply changes the one with the highest reading. Good idea or not?

Makes perfect sense to me , why replace somthing that aint broke ?
I have found that i can get 4 days out of 1 pair of pants , wear them as normal on the first day , then put them on backwards , then turn them inside out and do the same .
Well , you did ask if i was back to normal , you decide ;D ;D ;D

perfectly normal.

I would guess the membrane receiving the first of the water would be the one to go first as in a DI.

Then you can use them for cleaning windows, they should cut through some of the more stubborn marks.

I thought you could use them for roll ups.

No. Too much of a fire risk.

We always set our up so the water from the prefilters goes into each membrane, i.e. 3-way union. I can never understand the logic in running water through a membrane, filtering out the impurities then feeding that water with the extra impurities through another membrane. The second membrane has to remove twice as much dissolved solid so logically must clog up/wear out quicker plus the waste will have far more contamination in it so reduces the 'washing' function as it flows over the membrane and out to waste.

Re-cycling the water reduces the amount of waste so cuts down on water bill.
I only have a cheap 300gpd RO with 3 x 100gpd membranes. The product water is good enough so I do not have to use resin and the membranes are fairly cheap to replace. Ideal set up for a static system for sole operator.
