So I've just had a quote for next years fees and they have shot up. :o
For company year end accounts, payroll for 2 directors, filing fees, 1 x personal tax return and corporation tax return they now want over £1600 per year. Turnover just under the vat threshold. This is an increase of over 30% to what I was previously paying (which I also considered high for the amount of actual work that goes into it)
Those of you that are Limited Companies what kind of annual bills are you getting from your accountants and for what level of service?
I've just got off the phone from a local chartered accountant and he is wanting a much more reasonable £860 payable over 12 months.
Edit to add :- We have a £20k /year contract with an organisation that requires us to be LTD so being sole traders / self employed is not an option for us.

Not sure off top off my head but my fees seem very reasonable, I just got my pay roll bill for year an it's about £6 a week for payroll and wage slips provided
End of year is about £500 not sure exactly and most costs incurred are through vat returns every 3 months

Cheers Matty. So is that (roughly) £6 x 52 = £312 plus about £500 (year end) that you pay in total? Does that include your personal tax return too?

We pay £118 a month. That's for absolutely everything. Including payslips.
In exactly the same position as you, DeeGee.
It does seem expensive, its only my first year LTD though.
Will find out next year if she's worth it.

Those fees seem high. I have been quoted around £500 + VAT for end of year. All he has to do is take my Aworka output and slot it into a standard template. I will do my own tax return and wife's (she is a director) and she does payroll for three. Easy peasy online once set up.

Yes it's a bit of a minefield when LTD.
Tbh I was quite happy paying £100 + VAT per month on the understanding that it covered everything. They now want £130 + VAT and that imo is excessive and I will be cancelling their services.
DB - just £40 a month seems like a cracking price. Do you want to share your accountants details or do you get a preferential rate?

For Ltd company accounts, 1 payroll, 1 tax return, filing with companies house, filing with HMRC I pay £650.00 inc vat.

Until last year we used to pay what you're being asked for.
We've moved to a chap who works on his own and he's £580. He's below the VAT threshold, so no VAT.
Same coverage as yours but two personal tax returns instead of one. He's a great deal more active than the old firm. He calls us up to check how things are going, does a newsletter with stuff that might affect us and insisted on doing half year accounts. He also deals with minor questions on his own where the old firm would put a 17 year old trainee on who wanted to know every detail of every single invoice and receipt that passed through her hands.
It's money down the drain paying double what you have to. The move was totally painless.

Hello deege, sorry about wait just finished and got home, my income and expenditure account/self assessment & liabilities total £40+ vat. That was on me door when I came in so good timing, them prices are roughly ur best bet is to give them a ring, you be surprised what they will claim for legally.
I wouldn't use another accountant ever

Thanks for that chaps. Yes I agree that paying double what I need to is pointless.

I'm not ltd but for payroll i just use Bright Pay which is free is there are 3 staff or less.

this is the right price dee gee we pay similar amount of money you can get it little bit cheaper but it s always good to go with some one you can trust and known
