Think Andy means to connect the hose to reel Slap.
I used to use the brass elbow swivel but found them problematic and prone to leaks.
Now I just use a quality male metal threaded tap end connected straight on to the reels spindle and a female straight through metal hose lock connector on the hose feeding it. my reel is permanently van mounted though ( a heavy duty metal sealey reel )
I just bought the best ones I could from B&Q and they seem to work for me but Gardiners do sell some that others rate that apparently are free from leaks and don't pop off.

I use gardiners ones but they still leak, pees me off, am guna change over to johns guest fitting

i have used john guest fittings for about year and a half never had a leak on them since changing.

make sure you secure hose from pump, screw it down, so easy to pull it if you need to get reel out of van.,
i use wilkinsons hose lock fittings, very strong. not plastic.
its all a learning curve.

also use o rings to clamp the ends -- this stops leaks. Took me a few months to stop leaks but once I learned how to I dont have any more water leaks...

Yep replace rubber o rings , buy 5 for £1
