Is there any great difference in using Microfibre for finishing/detailing as opposed to using Scrim, do they give a better finish? The cost of Microfibre is more but is it worth the extra?

once you have used ungers microfibre trust me there is no comparison!
i used to use scrim but i bought ten microfibre cloths and the scrim are now retired! ;
-
for me there are pros and cons but both a must have, micro cloth is grt for frames and that and finishing. best thing is buy some 2or 3 and see how you get on i still use both! ;D

Iv`e been using microfibre for 3 weeks now,it is much better,i do a lot of shops, restaraunts etc and it wipes away grease marks in 1 wipe,it can absorb much more water without it feeling too wet and no streak marks,Gaz

Hi there everyone
when it comes to washing the microfbre clothes I heard you have to do a 90oC wash Is this true? I have never used microfibre I would like to give them a try.
Any thoughts anyone.
Thank you in advance.

i wash mine in 30oC with no soap at all! am i wrong?

i just shove them in the wash, i would say it does decrease the value of them over time. ???

With the microfibre i have noticed you get green and blue apart from the colour is there ant differance in them.

Never use any washing powder or softener when washing scrims or micros.
90 degrees is best but it does use a lot of juice to do this. I get away with 60 degrees ok.

I know Microfibre cost more but I’m sure it lasts longer.
Also seems to give a better finish.
I use it for car valeting as well as window cleaning I find its very good at getting finger prints off the inside of the windscreen also for wiping around the dash and other hard surface areas.

I have bought 10 of the giant unger microfibre cloths and all i can say is that im well impressed and won't be using scrim for detailing anymore.
I am also only using 1 piece per day instead of 3 or 4 scrim.
I did try some microfibre about a year ago bought it from B&Q but they were only small and didn't like them at all.
Now with the large microfibre they are a joy to work with and detail a lot better than scrim and you don't get the tiny hairs you get from scrim stick to the glass when it gets damp.

I've had mine over a year, and they're still going strong. I wash them in a 60 deg wash with small amount of detergent. Haven't noticed any drop in quality... well apart from when I some of them went through with softner in the drawer :o They did eventually wash out, but intially they were not absorbing the water the same, and it looked like they were loosing the fibres, I thought they were going to fall apart :o!!

I have just bought two microfibe cloths from Cleantech. They virtually ordered to buy them to try them out.
They are good, very good, brilliant for detailing but I will still use calico for frames etc because its good enough for the dirty work. Old T shirts I wear.
