For a used van that cost £4200, they told me it would cost me £4360 to insure it because im a new driver and my first vehicle. Really? However they did tell me that they will get back to me with a new quote. How much should it be for a new driver like me who just got their license recently?
-
it will be high mate but you will half that
-
How old are you?
-
New driver no, no claims about £2000
Under 21 with above anything above £3000
-
PUT IN ON YOUR DADS NAME. Insurance is my pet hate, can`t stand the fuc ers....... its such a rip off as if you had, god forbade and accident they will still argue.
-
put it in your dads name with you as a MAIN DRIVER
-
My best mate regretted the above advice for nearly 10 years.

A lot of insurance companies will not insure under 21's on a van even in the fathers name, you can't add them on. I had that problem.
-
That's crazy money, you might be better off using a car for the first year.

Im 29 this year and my dad is living abroad so its not an option. Im living with friends atm. They called me again saying they can reduce it for me but didn't tell me how much. I told them to phone me again tomorrow to let me know. Can someone tell me how much it should be so I get a rough idea? Would it be cheaper if I register as company's car? Thanks

^^^ No
Any quote over 2.5k per year I would look at doing a long term van hire or get a renault kangoo or similar and signwrite the back windows so it looks like a kangoo van

My advice is to try and insure it under a motor policy & not a van policy. Your contents will not be insured but you & your van will be.

thanks guys, I'm going wait until they actually tell me how much it will be of course but it does sound expensive even if they lower it to £2500.

I can't do that because i'm planning to install a wfp system at some point and I assume I won't be able to make any modifications if I'm on a lease? Renault kangoo is too small is it?
-
Try more than van insurance you can do it online and add your tank the back through modifications! and it doesn't increase price. Not sure on new drivers though.
-
I use kangoo yes a bit on small side but for one guy its great .I have 400 l upright tank.pump . hose reel .3poles on the limit for weight .
-
And i thought I was paying over the odds at £430

Car and trailer system?
