I'm a new WFP window cleaner and want to know the best way to attract new customers. My instinct is to canvass, canvass, canvass but what's the general consensus on websites, and Facebook for Business. Many thanks in advance for your helpful comments.

if starting a new then canvass is probably the fastest way to grow
Definitively need a website, Nat Jones on this forum is probably your best option, also you can pay monthly for it.
Once established leaflets on a large and consistent scale seem to work for some people

You can get a simple website from Richard Cross at Ctrl X Digital. You should be able to find him on google - he is based fairly near to you. The work he did for me is a simple one page site - but the search engine optimisation is excellent...
And no, I'm not on commission! ;)
I haven't tried facebook yet; but some folk on here get some great results...
If you want canvassing advice then the back posts of Ian Lancaster and Paul Dale provide some good advice when you "Going for the no's."

Drop leaflets telling punters you'll be calling soon to see if they're interested. Work great for me. All you need to do when they answer the door is"did you get our flyer about window cleaning, and if so, are you interested?"
Wait for answers from leaflets alone, and you'll need to drop thousands. If you leaflet 3 streets a day, and knock within 3 days, you'l get work fast. After that, you can sort out the good the bad and the messers as you get on.

Bad advice there imo.
Websites are great for attracting domestic customers aswell as bigger commercial jobs. If your website isn't attracting domestic customers then I'd start looking at the reasons why ie, SEO needs tweaking or the website is badly worded.

What about Facebook for Buainess? It's free of charge so shouldn't we all be using it?

Hi Gary, good luck on your new venture.
I would build up a nice facebook 'like' page, its free and you can add as many pages and videos as you want very easily.
Cheap home made leaflets to start with will work a treat. 'Repeat leaflet' areas on a regular basis for maximum effect. Direct people to your FREE facebook page via the leaflets.
Boost your facebook ads.
Brand everything, van, uniforms, leaflets, facebook page etc. you need to be recognised.
BUT the top tip for quick building is...............
Do more than is expected of you when cleaning your new customers property. Take your time and clean ALL the frames, doors and garage doors along with extra bits(???).
Leave an info sheet of how you have cleaned there windows and other services you offer (i.e fascia and soffit cleans) on this sheet also ask for referrals, if they are happy with what you have done your phone will start ringing.
And of course you can canvass along side all this.

Don't agree. SEO'd to perfection or not - The website brings in the odd customer but it will never bring in the volume needed to build a round.

The best return on investment ever got on advertising was getting my van signwritten.
Websites do work - but they're not quick,.. if your starting out & need to build a round fast then doorknocking and leafleting are by far the quickest ways of gaining work,.. its exhausting, but it works.

Leafletting/cancassing defo.
I door knocked for about 4 hours total for 10 custies, ive facebooked everyday for 2 months for the same.
Canvassing is horrible though i hate it :-\

Canvass, Facebook (is there a buy and sell page for your local area?) and clean on a saturday. I dont do it often as its 'family day' for me but the odd time I have done there is a steady flow of neighbours asking me to put them on my round.

4 Hours doorknocking for 10 customers sounds quite a good return to me.
