I have mine on the pole hose...what taps have you been having problems with?

This reminds me as I have had problems with Gardiners ones...4 have fell apart since last November gardiners kindly set me out 3 new replacements one was the as same the other 3 that fell apart and that quickly broke too...but the other 2 seem a slightly different design and  I think seem better....

Time will tell.

As above but I run a two tap system (one up by the gooseneck and one on the pole hose).

Think the Gardiner ones could be improved tho!! Broke a few in the last year.

I got on fine with them and one day they decided to give me the two fingers and started falling apart, got new ones and same happened so tried the Unger hiflo valve and it's been good.

Was it the red push fit things that fell apart lads?

As that's what happened on all the ones that fell apart on me.

Hopefully Alex Gardiner reads this post as there's an obvious flaw with these taps...

Nothing to do with the way I have been handling them..I sent photos of mine to gardiners and they sent replacements out straight away...I never drag them across the ground and rarely drop them.

I had trouble with them as well, I had two and they both fell apart after a week of use they are rubbish, I stick with the ones I have always bought off ebay and put them between pole hose and main hose here is a link they are very good http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-Ball-Valve-1-4-3-8-1-2-BSP-Female-Female-Male-Female-Reduced-Prices-/231470062222?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item35e4b0da8e

Get a tap that connects between pole hose and reel. So simple and easy.

the push fit pole taps are ok if you have one fitted at the brush end.they last ages but if your dragging them along the ground fitted on the other end of your hose 2 mins! ;D

ive been working like this for a while now as i got sick of my aqua daptors breaking, springs snapping, screw threads shearing off and i had two that just broke in half!i must of spent £250+ on them over the years.

i lose a bit of water when extending the pole but i can live with that for now.i might try an aqua tap next though.

I think the key with the pole taps is to hold the pole hose between the tap and main hose (as opposed to between tap and pole), this way when you pull the hose along you are not putting stress on the tap i.e increasing risk of the teeth failing.

I have used them a few years (from Gardiners) and not had any problems.

I use a use a irrigation tap fitted at the top of the pole. Its the tap used in micro irrigation you will need to ash how its done.

The way I'm going through these pole taps I'm seriously considering going back to a aqua dapter ;D

I never had any problems with the AD apart from the odd broken spring.

They are good and don't fall apart. ..but they're to big and heavy for my liking..

Well I have been using a gardiners one for 2 weeks without it breaking which is a record :D

Gardiners ones are fine provided you don't tread on them, smack them on the floor or yank the hose out of them. Some have lasted six months or more but I usually snag the hose and yank the guts out of them on the reel side.

Gardiners taps are great if you position them up near the brush head so they avoid getting smacked about.

There is one particular item from gardiners that I have a real problem with at the amount and will have to give Alex some stick for..... My free pen with every order keeps falling apart after 3 days! :o ;D

Think the Gardiner ones could be improved tho!! Broke a few in the last year.

The current ones we have been selling for about 9 years now and have found them generally very reliable if looked after well. They are made by a large and well respected Italian company. If anyone has experienced any of these failing then please contact us and we can look at replacing them as long as they have not been dragged along the ground in use as this can break the collet and weaken the teeth.

However I agree that they can be improved upon ......Which is why we have  :)

We decided that we could do better and so started from the ground up with the construction and the design of this flow valve. We will be releasing this on the website in a couple of weeks time.

These new push-fit flow valves will feature a more robust and protecting body design (to protect against being dragged along the ground), with more robust handle. They are easier to operate and have replaceable handles. They also have teeth that grip the hose with much greater force. Overall they are far superior and should offer an even better user experience for our clients.

The 2 that you have of a different design were from my pre-production run of the new design push-fit pole valve. I am pleased to hear that you have not had any issues since using these.

Does the aquatap fit straight onto a Gardiners pole anybody?

I've been using the Gardiner tap for a few years now and find they last me for a while (what the heck are you all doing with them  ;D ;D). I always fit them with the JG barbs, maybe that's why they last me for longer? I also hold it in my hand so I can flick the the tap on/off with my thumb and if the hose needs pulling with a decent amount of force, I'll pick up from the microbore connection.

You need one of these mate to fit in the quick release, then the AquaTap screws on this

I find the aqua tap very good. You need a fitting as shown above to fit it. Personally, I find the gardiners one is too heavy so I purchased the fitting from aqua tap.
