Title: Standing order customers!
Post by: Oliver James on February 24, 2015, 08:43:17 pm
About 4% of my round pay by standing order.

For me personally, it hasn't worked out from a business point of view.

Firstly; whenever I am more than 10 working days late I refund them some cash...

Secondly; they are due a price rise...

I am considering letting them know that standing orders haven't worked out for me and to ask them to cancel their standing orders and for all future payment to be via BACS....

Have YOU managed to make standing order work for you?

We're nearly often late (few days) but no one has asked for their money back or queried it yet.
After all it only equates to a few pound over the course of the year.

i have a few on standing orders.im never late getting round really(a week here and there is ok)as im 4 weekly so a monthly standing order works out ok over the course of a year.

even if they get ahead with payment i dont refund them ever! ;) it just gets added to their account for the next clean.

i run a tight ship though and 9 times out of 10 i get round on time all year round. ;D

Standing order, Direct Debit, BACS, go cardless and cash. Which ever you use, you have to inform them of a price raise either way. Then they increase payment.
2. Don't be so late :) if you start getting behind, work later to catch up

1. Don't be late

2. Go cardless / direct debits better than a standing order
