What do you all think of the radio 4 discussing chaps like fire man doing windows part time. I was told its not allowed to have a second job in these services. Are there other state service also among us moon lighting as windies.
But there are a few on here doing both. Can a fire chief just say its fine or how does it work. Just interested. Your comments please ? :o :o

My info may be outdated but a fire guy/window cleaner I knew told me that fire workers can have second job but need permission. Police are not allowed second job. Don't know re ambulance personnel.
Don't rely on this as I think he told me this about 10 years ago.

20 years ago 50% of window cleaners were firemen where I live. Quite a while ago now. This is why prices were so low. All changed now though

Fire crews around here are retained so basically part time and do other work, as long as they can get to the station in five minutes from getting the call.

As long as they pay tax and dont drive the prices down i dont mind. As i stated on the radio though some guys do clean for beer money as a little extra to other job.

You thought about getting a couple of extra fire extinguishers for your house, incase the engine breaks down on the way to yours should the worst happen ;)
