I've been having a problem with my pump number 2 in the van. The last few weeks I'm not getting much flow through the pump compared to pump 1 which I thought it's new pump time.. Discovered it's something to do with the delivery hose sat in the tank, it has a strainer thing attached to the bottom which must be stopping water flow but I can't work out where it's blocking up.
Can the shurflo pump strainer units be submerged under water??
I can't attach one to pump as the pumps in a very tight space.

Do you mean the strainer on your shurflo pump or submersible pump? if it's on your shurflo pump, just unscrew it when your tanks empty run it under a tap to un-clog and clean it then replace it. You can then prime the pump by running it on full flow for 10 minutes or so returning the water back into your tank. Works for us and we do this on each pump maybe three or four times a year.

Avo, are you talking about one of these:

If so, just like Simon described, when your tank is empty, unscrew it (the bottom transparent bit) and remove and clean the metal filter. I find using Wor Lass's toothbrush is the best way of getting the gunk out of it.
And no, you can't borrow her toothbrush.

Yes that's the one tosh at the minute I've taken off one like this picture below
Just wanting to no if the shurflo type can go under water as I might buy two of them.

They're plastic, so should be fine underwater.
