Anyone using these? been invited by a local firm. Get much from it, apart from breakies of course. ;)

ive done BNI, BRX and another BR something or other, in my experience it was full of hairy arsed blokes that just wanted a bit of brekki once a week, and to brag about how great they are, the referalls for the most parts were naff and I don't think I ever broke even, some of the blokes in the group I wouldn't recommend to anyone, I know other that have done well in different parts of the country but I found it a waste of time and money, you have probably been invited by some complete stranger that might have stubbled across one of your ads, I get invites all the time but decline, the gig is they either refer work or bring in a new business with the view to join there cult... like I said some cleaner do ok but for me NO DEAL

No mate, it was a landscape gardening firm that is working on a job where we are. Not some answer from an ad etc. Thanks for the info though.

You will also find that after you have attended in addition to the £10 or whatever they charge for the breakfast that you will be expected to join their club. The organisers of the local meeting will be getting commission on the membership costs so they have a vested interest in increasing numbers.
I found that they were frequented mostly by people who did not have enough work to pay for any work. There are few exceptions.

£10 for a breakfast and it starts at some godforsaken hour...was it 6.30am.
Why would I want to spend my time recommending people I don't even know and have never seen their work.

And you open yourself to calls from the breakfast clubbers fo your business. Somebody will be doing phones someone Utility warehouse and the list goes on. Yawn.

I have a mate in Stafford who has a window/ carpet/ hardfloor and pressure washing business, he is a member of two breakfast clubs and he does very well by them, but they are not for me ! If I cant get business after 25 years in the game its time to get out

Net working or finger in the pie £10quid is cheap no matter what time of day!
Will say our game in these clubs are not very sorted after!

I found that it was the same faces at many of the same groups locally. They must never eat at home.
Don't know why, most of the breakfasts I've been presented with were pretty dire.
Got some work but but there are only so many accountants, driving instructors or printers I need to meet in a week. Don't get me started on social media or digital marketing 'experts'.

I find that they are sometimes frequented by people who don't seem to get out much - they come out with the same mantra of "It's not the individuals but who they know also". If you put the time in to your own business then I am sure that you would benefit far more.
That said I went to one at Christmas for £20 to include free drinks and a 3 course Chinese Meal. Drank my way into profit and decided to walk home. A bus stops behind me to let someone off at an unscheduled stop and I got on and asked if he would stop outside my house. He did just that and didn't charge me the bus fare. A great result.............got any business from it?.....can't remember!
