Hi All
how many of us window cleaners suffer from tennis elbow and what been the best cure.
sick of the pain
thanks
-
Take up golf instead :)

IMO there isn't a cure. I had it for 12 months a few years ago & it's not pleasant! I was told by a customer that it would take around 12 months for it to go & he was bang on in my case. I had Physio but it did nothing at all for the condition. Probably not what you want to hear but this is how it was for me. I'm also left with a permanent lump on my elbow from it.
-
thanks for reply . had physio and courts-zone injection still no improvement, not looking good reading your reply
thanks
-
Just rest it as much as possible. One tip I will give you, try not to grip your pole as tight as you naturally do. Strangely, you have to concentrate to do this as it seems natural to most to over grip subconsciously. ;)
-
I had this years ago and tried most things that were available to treat it at the time. Nothing really worked until someone asked me to try Dog oil from a health shop which I did! Worked a treat! ;D

I used an elbow suppOrt strap alongside Ibuprofen. For me it worked well.
The last few months my shoulder has been playing up. Ive recently started going for sports massage for this and the girl has worked wonders on it. After the first session it was remarkably improved. Im going to keep going on a regular basis. She is very cheap actually, £35.00 for an hour.

Yeah one thing is an strap on top of forearm just before elbow. tighten it. It looks like a sweatband but you tighten quite hard. that will take pressure off the elbow joint. makesure you release this when you are not working as it can reduce bloodflow.
-
If you grip the pole on top with your lead hand, try gripping it underneath.
-
I have had four wrists and elbows. Try not using short strokes when using your arm. courtazone injections can work if you have them early and they hit the exact spot. With mine I had two operation which work one on each arm which solved my problem and I was back at work with in a month. All you need to do now is convince these doctors to let you have it.They create more problems because they have so much red tape.
-
I've had it loads of times. Conservatory roof cleans seem to bring it on particularly bad. Not much you can do, the arm supports with a pressure pad built in them help but leave a red dent in your arm at the end of the day. Had physio too - pretty painful experience - seemed to involve jabbing her fingers right into the forearm muscles and tendons.
-
I had golfers elbow from poling its on the inside of the elbow, there is a way to get rid of it quicker than you think I had it bad for a few years switching from left to right arm,if you give me your number I will talk you through it

as buzzing says, i use a tubi grip rolled up and just below the elbow
Something else that may work for you is to get to a gym and start to build the muscles around the shoulders and arms, i know we all think we are exercising doing our work but in fact we are just wearing our self's out (RSI) THIS WOULD HELP ANY SHOULDER PROBLEMS AS WELL
-
I have had tennis and golfers elbow. Struggling with it a bit now. Look into trigger therapy, it's like self administered acupressure.
When mine was really bad I could not work properly at all. Stopping literally every two minutes to relieve the pain. I turned to acupuncture which worked very well.
If you can ice it several times during the day it should help.
-
The straps will not make it go away trust me in fact they can actually make it worse if you don't sort it
-
I had for about 8 mouths then had acupuncture for abount 6 weeks and it went.
-
ive had no problems for a while now.switching to lighter poles and brushes helps and going to the gym and working those arms and shoulders!
i take cod liver oil with glucosamine every day with a multi vitamin and mineral tablet.i think it helps.been taking them for years now.
a tuba grip bandage on the elbow will help and some ibuprofen and paracetamol.
i even fit in 3 or 4 hours of drumming in my band once a week as well as poling most of my work every day.

Stop right there, young man.

I have had four wrists and elbows.
Nice one.

Suffered with the same problem a while back, still get bout's of it. Osteopath advised me to get this, several types available, but this one has a solid band, which apparently is the better type to have. If you decide to try it, get the one in the link!
It's tendon damage, the band tricks the body into thinking the damaged area isn't being used.

That's what I do. I pay £32.50 was £30 for a 55 minute massage on shoulders and neck every 5 weeks. I have it done just before all my new estate work. As I usually have between 9 - 14 days on these new eastates. Lots of high windows. 3 story and higher. Works wonders. No pain in shoulders.
One of the reasons I am going electric reels. I want the least stress on my body. Employing and sitting in an office could be the best way ;D

Off subject... but why is there a difference of five days with this work every five weeks?
-
I am an expert on this ::)roll lol Had golfers and tennis elbow for years. Very bad. I couldn't lift a kettle or wipe my bum...seriously. I tried every thing...other than acupuncture. Magnetic bracelets etc
Take Glucosamine Sulphate 500mg 2 times a day along with Omega3 and cod liver oil. Or any oily based tablet. This will take about 3 months to start working, but it works. If its mild pain, you will be ok. If its that's leaves 1 option and 1 bloody good one.
OPERATION.OPERATION.OPERATION.OPERATION.OPERATION!!! ;D
Best thing I ever did.
You will never get rid 100% forever, but its great.
You also need to bend your fingers back before work. Look exercise up

Oh I see what you mean now. External factors like building/roads closed. Pavements being done. Too windy on some days. Had a bad run recently.

Some doctors say they don't inject any more. Operation is quick and easy.

I've had swollen fingers for a couple of months can't bend them or make a fist the pain is unreal have trouble lifting the kettle up and changeing gear in the van .and pushing in the rectus fitting on the hose reel takes about 10 min lol started with just one finger now it's in both hands and now iam getting neck and shoulder pain aswell doctor thought it mite be arthuritis but blood tests are saying it isn't got to see a specialist and try phisio soon :-(
-
I had it pretty bad 18 months ago and lasted 12 months the pain was unbelievable.
I tried everything from creams, arm supports and resting it but couldn't shake it off.
In the end I watched some videos about it and heavily massage the muscles around the elbow it took about 3 months but it's back to normal without a problem. 😄👍
-
I used to suffer badly with rotor cuff damage in my shoulder - I know that's not tennis elbow - but it still was a repetitive strain injury. The pain could be severe and a course of prescription strength anti inflammatory tablets could sort it for a while.
But for the past three years I've been exercising regularly (running) and I've had no trouble with my shoulder.

They need an x-ray to show it up.

No blood test can definitively prove or rule out a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis, but a number of tests can show possible indications of the condition. Some of the main tests used are outlined below.
Rheumatoid arthritis can be difficult to diagnose because many conditions cause joint stiffness and inflammation and there is no definitive test for the condition

Ok thanks for that I did have an x Ray aswell but that only showed up the swelling aswell but the blood tests did come back high what ever that meens

Hi David. Sorry to hear that mate. My advice would be to get A sports massage every month and to stretch before and after work. Hope you get it sorted, let us know if you need any help
-
Doing the correct stretches every morning is so important. Oddly, it never worked for me
