As above. My Aqua Dapter keeps jamming where the arm that's looks like an X, sits on the peg to the bottom left as you look at it...in the 1/4 open position. It only does it when extended quite a bit. All I have done is switched hose from Gardiner to the one that came with the Aqua Dapter. Reason being its softer in the cold.
Steve?

It sounds like the spring needs replacing
-
Have you tried Marmalade ?
Sorry , just gonna go have a word with myself :P

Its not too bad while its just jamming, but keep an eye out that it doesn't start on the drugs...
-
Mine does the same. You can pull that peg out with a pair of plyers and clean the bit its seated in. I also sprayed some wd40 on the wheel, it's a little better now.

Wrong hose mate, they work best with A/d hose, the softer Gardiners hose has too much stretch in it and you don't get that snap action to operate the A/d - this always gets worse the higher you go
One of the reasons I moved over to Aqua taps HTH

Sorry, having a bad day with posts, if you've gone back to A/d hose then it's most likely the spring is getting tired

Get an Aquatap
-
Are you liking it then trippy ?

Get an Aquatap
not a chance. :P
Its fine with only 1 section out. Every time I lower the pole, its works spot on
-
no problem Duncan, used aquadaptors for ages, but then something better came along...(IMO)
Have fun with your aquadaptor ;D

Smudger care to enlighten us mate? I've been using aqua-dapters since they cam out. I'm always looking for new gadgets to try ;D
-
I would try the aquatap but I use a swivel so I don't think the two would go together.
Darren. Do you find the aquatap better overall or better because it is lighter?

Hi,
Duncan we only recommend using our hose.
any other is to stretchy, hence the problem your getting.
Steven.

I've used the A/d from the mk1 through to the xl - it is a very good piece of equipment to have, and was revolutionary when launched , however for me having six on the go at any one time became frustrating with spring breakages ( seemed like every other day ! ) jamming problems after doing SFG cleans ( dirt trapped in mechanism ) or at height, but the mik3 and xl also suffered quality build problems in pursuit of lightness with the mating thread rivets breaking or the hole elongating and the whole thing coming loose.
Peters Aquatap is a different animal, I love them, so do the guys - lighter, shorter and pretty much indestructible - yes they have issues in that you need to lubricate the o rings very couple of months but this is quicker than changing a spring.
I like them for the extra water control, when scrubbing soffits etc I can set the water to a bear minimum trickle then instantly turn it full flow without taking my hands off the pole, which when 30 ft up in breezy conditions is an advantage to pulling on the hose.
Whether you can use one with a swivel is another matter, and when you get your first one the change needed in holding the while cleaning at certain angles will not suit everyone at first.

I have soooo many aquadapter corpses lying around :)

Ive used the Aquatap for a month now , first week I was about to throw it in the bin.
A month down the line a would not part with it.
Its like when you do wfp for the first time, you think you will never master it and it slows you down and after 3 days you think you have wasted your money , but 6 months down the line you would not part with it for all the mountain bikes in Franks shed.
Gotta say yes it does switch on and off first going off , but it does stiffen eventually.
Ive never used Aqua dapter so I cant compare and certainly would not slag it off , as plenty of folks also love it.
In my opinion Aquatap is worth a try for just 30 quid.
What have you got to lose?

Well said trippy

I've never used TBH. I've been using aqua-dapters from mark1. I can't fault them. We use gardiners goosenecks also and Steve provides all fittings for them to. I'm not sure if aquatap does also. Plus Steve's support is second to none. Good guy!

I like a smooth shaft to hold. No clips or anything to cut myself on. Pulling a hose is easy. Do you clip it to end of pole, with a loop in hose?

The adaptors will all fit the Aqua tap

How you like to hold a shaft is your own personal preference and I hope you do it in private.... ;D
Think you may be confused ? - no clips, no loop, it aquatap operates without having to remove your hands off the pole. It's overall more user friendly than the Aqua daptor, both have minor niggles, but both are far better than any of the other alternatives

Didn't realise they were a twist action. Ok as long as clamps are tight. I thought Steve from Aqua Dapter made them
-
Is that statement based on using the aquatap or a complete guess?
Peter fogwill makes the Aqua tap

And how is your aquadaptor ? Still only operating it when pole fully closed ??

No. Just now and again it plays up. Don't think it likes the cold ;D still love it

As I've said on a number of occasions they are an excellent tool.
Having used both, overall the aquatap just edges it, that's an honest opinion based on years of using these things...

the only down side I can think of is, you have to rest the brush on something to twist pole to turn it off...don't you?
-
You are correct you can't turn it off in mid air, but generally we rinse on the glass, so as you get to the lower frame twist then wipe the sill, we also clean the sills so that is also a great place to turn off
