Title: Leaded windows
Post by: Ray hatter on February 05, 2015, 09:07:29 am
Just taken on a new customer with leaded windows but noticed a lot of steak marks down one of the windows ,I think it's off the lead ,any ideas what the best way is  of getting it off as the pure water has no effect

i had a new call like this last year, the windows where really badly stained from water running over the lead over the years. i cleaned it twice and it was still bad, i used an anti limescale spray and it got most of it off if that helps, i think it probably takes a bit of time aswel if its been staining for a long time

Viakal should do it or winsol 550 although that's a bit more expensive.

Try vinegar, seems to work a treat, wfp won't touch it, don't tell hummer or Gary, they'll go mental, all they know is wfp  ;D

Seriously though, try vinegar!

Problem is even if you manage to remove it, using pure on it the problem will keep reoccurring. The lead is knackered and will continue oxidising until replaced.
Tell the customer that and save yourself the hassle.

Yeah any old White vinegar, seems to cut through the stains easily, cheap option too. Just make sure to use a cloth that your happy to throw away as it will stink bad!
