Title: Quick loq my ar$$
Post by: ray mck on February 03, 2015, 06:35:27 pm
Don't know why they call it quick loq .takes me about 10 .15 mins to change the bloody brush you need a nail or a screwdriver to push that little thing in,or is it just me.

I tried changing mine after 6 months. Button went in, but I had to hammer head off. All sorted now

If it is under 12 months old then give us a call and we can look at replacing one of the components for you as it should operate smoothly.

The 'Flip-Fast' from Aquadapter can be easily made yourself.......

Using one of my angle adapters, I used a Dremel to cut the slot  same as on the Flip-Fast......simple to do and works fine  :).

The recent ones seem ok, but the earlier ones were poor quality. Way outside their tolerance limits I would think. The ones less than 12 months old are probably ok, it's the older ones that are very stiff.

Well at lease you can sand them to fit.
If it was a little smaller this is where you get problems (you have loose fit.)
Just saying.  ;D

i had to hammer two of mine off,       its more simple to just replace the old full fitting for one with a different brush on,    or screw brush off and screw different one on,

i noticed the older one has a spring in and the newer ones dont,     they could still do with remoddeling.
tools needed to change,   posie screw driver / hammer.brute strengh.

sorry Alex but this is how i had to get mine off.        i just remove whole brush setup from pole and change ,  easier and safet.

Hi Johnny

Really none of this should be needed as they should simply push-button release and slide off. I would say that you must have either a male gooseneck part or a brush socket that are incorrect.

What parts do you have and how old are they all? Drop me an email and I can sort this out for you.

I HAVE ONE WHICH COME AS A PACKAGE , AND ONE TO CONNECT UP TO A NORMAL GOOSNECK.

oops not meaning to shout

its just wear and tear,  pressure while using pole for working.    old one had a spring in,    the newer version did not,

So let me try and list this then:

You have:

2x brush sockets
1x Plastic Gooseneck

Is that correct?

THESE ARE THE NEWER ONES,
the older one i ordered before these had a spring in,      for a month or 2 they are ok,    you dont realise how stubborn they can be to get off   if you dont regularally change brushes,    i will be needing a softer brush for the leaded windows,   the cheap diy lead they put on can be proned to loosen if your brush is too hard.
need a soft brush to show the house owner , putting them at ease.

but atm  is not so easy with the quik loq    just to change brush head only. need to change the whole top fitting.
which is easy enough with the new clx range,     loosen locking bracket      pull out,   push different brush fitting in.

I stick a little grease on my quiklok now, brushes are easy to change.

They can sometimes become harder to change with use, but generally it should be a simple process. I usually change brushes about every hour when working as I am always trying out new products. If it was not easy it would 'drive me up the wall'  :)

I will look up your order and see what will sort this for you.

Sometimes (but not always) on the older ones the tolerances could be a little tight. We eventually worked out that this was to do with the time of year that they were being  moulded and the ambient temperature in the factory. If the male part was made when the factory was hot they were slightly larger and if the brush sockets where made when the factory was slightly colder they could be a little too tight. If a user happened to get the two tolerances mixing in the wrong way they would be too stiff.

We now have these sorted so that the brush sockets and male top arms only get made at certain times of year when the factory is within certain temperatures. This has helped improve tolerance consistency.

If using swivel goosenecks then these are always a little tighter though to improve the swivel action.

I get the same issue with my Extreme 47 and SLX 25 all bought in the last 6 months.

They were ok at new, but now starting to get jammed.  I have to take brush off to store my extreme 47 but now its jammed I have to unclip at remove the gooseneck with the brush left on.  But I have now got through 2 clamps as they fell apart loosing the nut and spring in storage.  Silly me.

Buy a tube of copper grease.  About £4-£5 will buy you a tube that will last your lifetime.  Lubricate the parts before assembling.  It'll never wash out and it works perfectly.

It may be that in the very cold weather the brush socket has tightened up slightly. It is worth warming them up in the cab of the vehicle and seeing if this makes any difference. Until the weather warms up slightly it may be worth applying a little copper grease, vaseline or similar.

I have a 9 month old one. The button has a spring behind it, but I think its swelling whats the problem. Lube or sand would solve the problem. I never normally change my head, but this week I thought I would give my swivel head another chance. That's when the hammer came out  ;D You can tell I was a mechanic  :P
