No point in buying a 40 footer IMO.

I've the first generation of the supermax 40 ( new ones are high modulus ).
I know many will disagree and its a personal choice, but I could not bring myself as a sole trader to splash out on several poles of varying heights. 40 is as high as I need to go so that's what I bought. Adapting exceeds design of tubeless pole I did the same to my smax to make adding and removing sections a doddle.. I removed tape stops from no 1 section and no 5 and painted a limit mark instead and bought a no 5 end cap. I use 5 sections as standard ( approx 25 ft equal to an slx ), the extra 3 for occasional high windows and no 1 section on its own for tight spaces on ground floor. Its all I needed and doesn't break the bank ;)
ok, so it could be lighter and more rigid ( I think the newer ones are ) but its rare that I am using the full 40 ft for anymore than 10 mins a time and then I remove those sections ( done very quickly with a "hoseless" design )
Of course if I were to be cleaning at 40 ft + regularly throughout each day I'd consider an extreme as a good investment. ;)

I've been using 18', 30' SLX and 47 extreme.
This week I've sold my 30' and will be selling my 18'.
I've bought a SLX 22' and just have that and the extreme.
Liking the combination so far. But it is only day 2.

im the same as above,
have a 40ft supermax, and its pretty heavy and bendy, however its used about a couple of times a month so don't need anything different

Some on this site are obsessed with lightness, with it comes fragility, if its a pole your using all day light maybe the priority, if you have several poles and each one may only be used for a short period of time longevity may be more important, also you do get used to the weight. Buy your 40 foot pole based on your needs, there's lots of choice out there.

ive got an slx22 for everyday and an slx39 for the high windows,i use it once or twice a month, its every wobbly like using an clx again lol but it does what it needs to do on the high windows.

Hi. Thanks for the replys. I use a SLX 18 and that's great and I can use it on every job I have. But I have just been asked to do an office block which requires a 40 ft pole. I reckon it's a 3 or 4 hour job. Was looking at a glass fibre one for £250. But worried its heavy. A 40 ft SLX is out my price range at the minute. Anybody got a glass fibre 40ft one???

Rob, whatever you do dont buy a fibreglass 40 footer. I remember those days. Not fondly.
Where are you based?
Or, what about buying the extension pack for your 18'? It'd be about £350 i think.
