Morning all!
This morning a put in a brand new 110ah battery (bench charged over the weekend) and i've re done all the wiring/connectors between the battery and controller just to freshen it all up
Late morning i noticed that while the battery was under load from the pumps, every so often it would still flash 'bat'
No flow issues or anything, but more of a question as to why it still may be doing this..(is this sometimes normal while the pump is on?)
When the pump is pulsing the controller says 12.7(ish) volts
Under load its around 12.3(ish)
I wouldn't have thought either of these was low enough to make the controller flash 'bat'?
I also have a split charger (that works as i switched it on while pumps were on to check) topping it up
is this me being a bit anal (not the cozy/lickers version) and actually it all sounds ok, or (baring in mind i had a fully charged 110ah battery at the start of the day) could there be an issue with pump or controller or somewhere else?

I would guess that there might be an iffy connection somewhere.

Just found this chart on the net (attached) which is pretty handy
Seems everything is ok, just odd how i had it flashing 'bat' randomnly...

We had issues until we replaced crocodile clamps with proper battery terminals.
Look for a poor connection at the fuse holder.

I've done that this evening,
New fuse holder, and proper battery connections, so hopefully tomorrow will be sorted tomorrow...

I thought BAT only appeared at 11.9 V , sure thats what Ian Spring told me once ?

Depending on the version of controller is in use low battery warning would flash at
V9 version: BAT displays if detected volts are 11.5V or less. Pump shut down at 11V
V11 version: BAT displays if detected volts are 11V or less. Pump shut down at 10.5V
The V11 also has a low battery cut off, Over ride feature.

The two versions also measure voltage in a different way. The V9 is measuring volts it see,s at the controller.
The V11 is actually measuring volts at the battery, This makes the V11 more accurate and nore efficient. The V11 is more efficient at returning unused current back the the battery.
Referirng to Dons initial post I would agree that a loose connection and or worn fuse holder are the likely source of the problem.
Both V9 and V11 are quite sensitive to small changes in current even when the current change is only 1/2 a second or so.
So as the battery comes under load volts dip If this is combined with a faulty connection the dip would be enough to cause the control to flash Bat
As load levels and the battery recovers slightly to come above the warning Threshold the control will stop flashing the BAT message after a short time.
The suggestion of good battery terminal as opposed to croc clips is a good idea

As suggested, i think it was dodgy connections!
After putting new terminal connections (always used them as opposed to croc clips), new fuse holder and rewired to the controller (v9) so there are now no unnecessary connections, every thing was hunky dory and getting good voltage readings all day!
