Post by: Tom White on February 02, 2015, 09:04:09 am
Again!  >:(

Why didn't I just plug the immersion heater in the van last night?  :-[

Because you're not too bright?

Maybe it's because you're lazy?

Is it because the MET office didn't predict cold weather?

Did you forget?

Come on, tell us!

The forecast shjowed -1 overnight around my way.  With the slight protection from the van, this would not require any heating or equipment removal.  However, at 7 this morning the actual temperature was showing as -6 on the van's guage.  So, a delayed start here.  Not such a problem - should be ready to roll within another hour.

I'm forever the optimist.  I thought, "Nah, it won't get that cold down here!  I'll not bother!"

hopefully this will be the last week of consistently rubbish working weather ... met office (yes I know don't laugh) is saying a good week ahead this week in north wales if a little cold first thing though.

If my plans come together this year would love to have a couple of weeks off in Jan 2016 and go to Deshaies in Guadeloupe (St Honore .... Death in Paradise TV show) ...  :)

I defrosted all the van and then tried to fill the tank up.

Transfer hose still frozen.  :'(

We had a big day on today; three factory units - all next door to each other.

I forgot the Seven Ps:

Prior planning and preparation prevents 'pee' poor performance.  :'(

Same here. All these times and its never frozen. Set of and could hear swishing of water. Inside van didn't seem cols. No ice on screen. Temp gauge on van is miles out, so ignored that.Got to job, grabbed hose and heard the breaking ice sound. "O DAM" off home I went. I have a heater in back, so put that on. Nothing frozen but my 22mm hose from pump to reel. Odd as its the thickest hose. Ill drain it all off tonight and see if I can find oil filled rad in loft

disconnect it, so air can run through it. You wont get it all out unless you force air through

true  :(
I turn tank tap off, run pump with hose tap open then disconnect the pumps feed until most of the water is gone, then disconnect any hoselock fittings I have ( metal ones ).
Didn't stop things freezing up in my van this morning ( but no van mounted ro ) as I am street parked and cannot heat it overnight BUT I did go out to van 30 mins before I needed to leave and ran the engine up to temp with the cabs dash heater on full, by the time I was ready to go warm air had circulated enough through the van to thaw any standing water in hoses and fittings.

Cheers chaps. I too have to park on the road. I have a half hour drive to work though so considering getting a heater to just run for that 30 mins it takes me to get to the first job. That would probably be enough time and avoids the risk of my van setting in fire.

Got oil filled rad out from loft. Stuck it in van for 3 hours. Just went in expecting a heat wave. Bloody freezing  :) I put a blanket over pump and rad is at rear. Should be ok. I have a rear heater, same as whats up front.Still takes hours to get through pipes. You would think, as soon as van is warm, it would melt quickly. Drop an ice cube in the house, its water in no time
