Hi ,I've  been doing carpet cleaning for a few years as a add on to my window cleaning round.

I had a 400e puzzi karcher which I thought was a good machine at the time and I now realise it wasn't that good at all.

I've got a new machine now and was thinking about going on the two day prochem course as I know nothing about pre sprays and different treatments has anyone been on this course and is it worth the 200 quid?

Hi Joe,i did the prochem course years ago and found it good.The course will obviously be selling you prochem products,but you will get the insight into the basics.There could be better training courses ,i dont know.But you defo need some traing...

Thanks do you use a pre spray on most carpet before you clean?will they show you stuff like that?

Yes Joe,as i said thats a basic.They will go through presprays and rinses,stain removal etc.

Hi Joe, it is definitely worth doing this course, I did the two day one several years ago and learnt a lot. It is safer for you and you can tell your custy's that you have done it and put it in your advertising. It covers carpet identification, different methods, machines, chemicals, etc.

Hi Joe.

I'd say training is a must and any good course will tell you all you need to know. Not sure we're you are based but Cleansmart in Nottingham do a good 2 day course. Pretty sure you get a discount if you book both the carpet and upholstery courses together as well.

I did the Prochem 2 day core last year and definitely worth the money - went in thinking there wasnt a lot to carpet cleaning, boy was I surprised - I am a week away from doing the NCCA course and with six months under my belt in the business I now realise that there is a lot to learn in this industry and my leaning is ongoing .....

I think anybody new to the industry should take on training but a course from a supplier or manufacturer will be biased to their products and equipment. I would look to the NCCA or the IRCRC for a more independent and better course.
It is especially important when you have no experience as it is easily to be led.

I have done some Prochem training and it is very informative and not as product driven as some courses out there. I aim to do a training course every year as learning is a constant thing. I agree the IRCRC courses look a good start.
