i am going to be using a leisure battery set up in new van and see these pump boxes on sale for all equipment. Any good or just a gimmick?
-
they are expensive for what they are but if you just want a "plug in and play" solution they are just the ticket!
ive had mine for 2 years now.its never missed a beat.plus you can bring them in overnight if its forecast to be below freezing overnight.
mines a streamline one with a digital controller.water genie do the same pump box as well.
-
+1 but had mine almost 4 years

I've always used a pump box but without a battery in it, I run direct from van battery. I have hozelock in & out male ports on each side, varistream fixed to front of box. Everything contained in one unit which can be just disconnected & removed very quickly & easily in winter if needs be.

thinking of buying a gene box £310 with delivery comes with a lucas battery ,priced battery alone not far short of £100 quid seems good price, comes with a shurflow pump ,should be goood idea everything in one .these are in window cleaning warehouse anybody got one working and what they like

already have my pump and varistream from other van so not an issue. only problem i can thing of is the hozelock connectors. they always leak through time. any one use shurflo pump strainer on theirs? plenty space in box for pump and battery plus this?

My Hozelocks don't leak, I've used them for over ten years. On any which are subject to movement (like on a reel) & periodically DI vessels you just need to replace the rubber O rings every now & then. My pump box is & has always been 100% leak free. ;)

Just buy a battery box and make one then, far cheaper ;)

Unfortunately no, I have made a quick release pump and controller board strapped to my tank.
It was just a personal choice, but pump boxes are just plastic boxes such as a battery box with common parts fitted inside ( parts you already have ) .
Just my opinion but they seem to cost a lot more than the sum of their parts.
use something like this

or even like this

In fact I prefer the idea of using a tool box, stainless steel latches and strong carrying handle ;)

The biggest rip off in the world of wfp.
I don't deny they're handy but the mark up is nothing short of scandalous.
Diy it
-
may try diy but what type of gland is used to secure the hozelock. ?

someone mentioned this supplier the other day as being good
http://www.dmfit.co.uk/
I reckon you could find push fit fittings there that would do away with the need to use hoselocks, just connect the hoses up with push fit barbs .

cool,
just illustrates DG's point, the mark up on these ready built pump boxes is scandalous >:(
