jus bought 100 meters of that red thermobore to go with my new heater!!!!!
WHY WAS I NOT WARNED ID NEED A NEW REEL TO PUT IT ONTO ALSO!
anyone have a good real that they could recommend for this colossal hose thats a right pain in the arse!
-
Explain why you need a new hose reel?
-
the outside diameter of the hose is 15mm its HEAVY and when i spoke to gardiners and asked about it. they said i need a new reel a hot water real that start at £150+VAT
my standard hose reel is bending with the weight and its gets tangled at EVERY JOB not tangled but stuck between the reel and the frame! the hose don't fit on BY MILES!
its great strong hose but i wouldn't of bought it if i knew i needed a big time reel!
very annoying!

Why would you not think you would need a new reel if you were told by the suppiler when you bought it that you would need a new reel? ???

i bought it about a week ago!!!! i spoke to them today!

I bought 100 metre flourescent hose from pure freedom.. Think delivered it was less than £50... I've been using corwoods heater or my immersion heater with it & it's brilliant... It's supposed to b good up to 60 degrees but that's way to hot anyway!!!

Give me your email address and I will email you a photo. I have a reel with Gardiners thermobore + on it and was not £150..
-
I know its a pita I had the same problem I got my hose reel from wintecs
link here

I should have opted for the 200m one though...as it still falls off sides sometimes on this one its only extra £20 or so

the red thermobore is very good hot water hose BUT its heavy and a full 100m wouldnt fit on my redashe koreel hi vis reel.i cut around 5 metres off it.
the first few days of using it will be a nightmare as it twists and curls up at every pull of the hose but itll settle down after a while.
since going back to cold water full time and standard microbore ive never had it so easy!much better for dragging around although its like wire at times in colder weather.
-
what reel would you recommend Daz?
-

Ah, fair enough. Annoying.
-
ive only ever had 2 reels.claber and redashe reels.
the redashe is a lot more sturdy and well built for sure but it was over £200.great for hot water.
the claber reel at around £40 is very good value but only suitable for cold water as some guys have warped the side discs with hot water.
ill be changing my red thermobore for microbore on the redashe reel as im not going back to hot water again.the benefits are minimal IME v cost/extra faffing
-
Always best to ask for a sample of hose. I got samples sent to me, thats why i bought the hivis pure freedom hose. The thermobore red hose imo is not very good. I bet its a right pain to work with.
-
I used the red thermobore for about a week and its now sitting in my garage, both of my lads slipped on it and twisted their knees so no way was i going to carry on using it, a normal hose will give or grip the ground and therefore not move, the red one is so strong it rolls if you stand on it and this increases the risk of someone slipping or falling on it. its a claim waiting to happen.
Ive got two of the orange gardiners hoses on my double stack pure freedom reels and they're brilliant
-
I only use cold water the orange they used to sell is spot on had mine just over 2 years and fits on claber reel , Looks like i will buying elsewhere when needed .
