Title: propane water heater
Post by: Alan Brooker. Aqualink Carpet Care on April 21, 2006, 06:22:37 pm
I think Dave 'Liahona' said he used one of these.
Im trying to think how I would put one together. I want it for use with a porty so it'll need to be relatively portable itself. Anyone got any ideas where I can find one?

Alan

Only in the states.  Cant get them over here.

IMO its not something you want to be lugging about but rather keep it in the van.  A diesel heater from a local powerwash supplier adapted for cc would be best.

Mark

PS. unless your a gas plumber I wouldnt dream of trying to make something like this.

Oh. Forgive me if my plan was a little caveman like but my idea was to use a propane or butane supply to a small burner with a large metal coil 'heat exchanger' (somehow) ??? - I haven't got to that bit yet ;D and then mount it all on an adapted sack truck.

Help

 hi there alan

this is something that i thought about myself just never knew
how to go about it also marks idear on the diesel burner
for a power hose
both would make intresting  solutions to heating water especialy
if you left your porty in the van while working

a couple of years ago i looked a a small propane water heater from a WFP company in crawley London ( Omnipole i think) at the time i did'nt have the knowledge to adapt this for carpet cleaning use, but now i know it could be done.

cost about 35o pounds, but the problem at the time was it had no thermostat so when it was on it was constantly heating water, now I couls fix this problem with a bypass vavle.

might be worth looking into, it was also small about a ft wide without the propane bottle.

Love from egypt :)

Thanks Mike, I'll look into it. Bring some of their weather back. It's miserable over here.
