What a life saver today.
Today for the first time ever I am having to salt. The design of these new estates is causing mega issues with freezing water on paths and at houses.
So I clean customer.
Put rock salt down.
Put bill through.
Open App.
Send SMS - generic salt rock text.
Mark as done
Bloody simple and saving me time so it ain't a ball ache.
-
How do you send a text generically - is it in settings, or are you using the text service CP provides?

Texting the night before I use CP via text local. Costs around 4 odd pence. I set the messages to always go out at 7pm customers love it. As sometimes I would text at 4/5/6/7/8/9pm ! Texting at 4pm usually means customers forgets.
When I am out and about. Load up CP app on iPhone. Click send SMS and I have templates on my phone. It send it via the iphone. I get unlimited free texts so its free.
The texts from Text local via CP can't be replied to you see. So none of this. Leave next time. Not that I get that a lot anyway.

I know it's been cold and icy but sending a text containing rock salt is a bit much innit? ;D

Sounds good, it is a shame you have to pay for this though if you have free texts from phone. It would be great if this can be done without the text local service.

You Probably can ask Rob. The issue for me is the times they are sent. In the winter my van is sorted and ready by 5pm. I dont want to then start sending texts at 7pm. I switch off at 5pm and let CP do it for me. While my van is filling, i am on CP :)

H2O - does iPhone have built in text templates? Or do you use a 3rd party app? (I have Android and iPad here but not iPhone)
If you can do this with built in templates on the iPhone that would compliment the "Send SMS" button in the Cleaner Planner app perfectly (and I think that's what you're saying?)
If you could explain how Fynn and others can do that I think it would be a top tip :)
As for bulk + scheduled SMS from the PC/Mac that's where the integration with Textlocal comes into it's own (and pays for itself in terms of time saved for those who use it).
-
That just complicates the process lol.
When you click SEND SMS. It takes you to a new message. I just copy a paste from a file I have on the iPhone. It's a rare thing texting a customer after I have done the job.
So I just copy and paste. Yesterday was all about rock salt texting.
So every time I clicked SEND SMS. When it opened I just clicked paste. Simples.

This might be worth a look though for those who (generally, not just for CP) would like SMS templates on their iPhone:

Will have a look at that thanks.
Like I say VERY rare to text a customer on the day. Good for rained off work tho!

Thanks for the info guys. Pure - I agree all sounds spot on auto texts at 7pm etc. I think those benefits outweigh the cost. The only problem for me is that I don't do exactly the same work as I did the month before and I take it Text Local works on this basis , I.e it will text the same amount of clients for say tomorrow's work load. (Hope you follow what I'm trying to get at).
Rob Ive just got the app you linked, works well thanks for the copy and paste method. Thanks

No no no lol. You tell it who you want to text. You create a worksheet. Then click SEND SMS and it will send to all OR select the ones you want. You have total control over it.

Thanks for that Rob.
Not sure if I've asked before but...
Can you design a keyboard that that is just the numbers please?
Im on iPhone. I copy/paste the text and then input customers number.
I don't want to store their number in my phone and don't want a block of customers saved either.
I just want it so that when I have the screen to put the phone number in it is like:
123
456
789
*0#
not:
1234567890
Can you do that so that its a 'keyboard' option?
So that you can click the globe where the emoji keyboard is and just the numeric one come up...
(should i start a new thread on this?)

Fin - just to add, you can mark your jobs as "Remind customer" and they then appear with an orange bell icon next to them throughout the system, including the worksheets on the PC/Mac and mobile app (I think you're already doing this?) With this and SMS set up you get a button top left of the worksheet "Send SMS Reminders" all you have to do is click that, tweak the last message you sent and click "Send" and the message goes out to all customers with mobile numbers and reminders enabled. The orange bell for these customers then goes green and crossed out on the worksheet so you know you've reminded them. The rest you can call or email. Hope that makes sense, feel free to drop me an email or give me a call if you want to discuss further.
PoleKing - didn't used to be possible to develop custom keyboards on iOS but looks like they now support it in iOS 8. OS customisation isn't really my focus to be honest, but I imagine now this is supported in iOS all sorts of custom keyboard apps will start to appear on the App Store. Have you had a hunt round and come up short?

Yes mate. Nothing doing. That I could find.
I'd imagine it wouldn't be that difficult but just not my thing.
Could you point me in the direction of someone who could do it?

Thank Rob - email sent ;)

Sorry, can't think of anyone off the top of my head. As it's a very clearly defined task, you might have some luck putting it on one of the freelance project boards and see what you get back by way of proposals/quotes - e.g. www.peopleperhour.com, www.elance.com.

They look like a good, cheap way to get certain jobs done Rob. Might just give one of those a try.

Do you have to use the app Rob to send the message?
So i would click mobile number in CP then go to app. copy template, paste in message?
-
Hi 23, you've got a couple of options, if you want to bulk SMS everyone on the worksheet in one go you can do that with a couple of clicks on the main website (PC/Mac/iPad) if you've got Textlocal set up. Alternatively (or as well) you can call/text people directly from the mobile app by tapping their mobile number or the "Send SMS" link next to it. This will bring up the phone/SMS screen on your phone where you can insert a template if you have a phone/app that can do that. E.g. on my HTC Android it has a "Quick text" feature that works really well for this kind of thing.
Hope that answers your question! Are you trialling/using CP currently?
-
Rob I changed my name. It's Damo :)
-
Oh, hi Damo!
Did my answer clarify things though? I think you're all sorted on the SMS front aren't you?
-
Yeah pretty much tbh.
Almost caught up from Xmas so will sort that thing out for you :)
