There has been a light shower of rain in my area, went out to put the heater into the van and could hardly
walk as it froze instantly on the ground.
Will give it a couple of hours to see if it thaws.
A lot of work in hilly areas this week which doesn't help as I nearly lost the van in the same area a few years back,
it started to slide down the hill from a parked position very lucky to escape without damage to public or van.

No idea about hot water daz, my guess is not now it's warned up a bit, gonna head out and do it but now, it's currently -0.2 here, so should be ok now of people have heating on!

That's not good! You mean the van starting sliding down the hill with handbrake on?

Yep, I had parked up hand break on and was just about to get the hose and pole from the back door when it started to move,
I did something stupid which was to get back into the moving van but in the heat of the moment I just didn't think.
It was a side street off a main road and the van come to a stop in the middle of the main road without hitting anyone or
anything and with no other vehicles about at the time, just pure luck.
I honestly thought the weight of the water would give me more grip but I wonder if it was the cause of the van slipping.
Had about 500lts on the van at the time and it wasn't a massively steep hill but the road was like a bottle.

I take it you have summer tyres fitted to your van and not winter tyres

All my vans have winter tyres fitted for this reason, summer tyres have next to no grip in snow and Ice, imo it should be illegal to use summer tyres when the roads have snow and ice on them

Yes just the same tyres as I use all year Scimble, never thought of looking into winter tyres.

Heater in the van overnight.

1KW heater in tank.

Out at 8.00 - including gutter clean. No problems. Plan ahead, it happens every year.

Was replacing the trigger on a pole last night and couldn't understand why there was no flow. Then realised the reel had frozen while I was working on it. Very still and quiet last night so hadn't realised just how cold it was.

-4 is borderline anyway, sometimes you will get away with it then another time it will catch you out and freeze.
I don't go out until it's reached -2 or above.
If you are able to get an extension lead to your van (which I presume you do because of heater) then buy one or two 500 watt Aquarium heaters for your van tank.
I use one in a 350 ltr tank and if left on overnight gets the temperature just warm to the touch which is enough to keep working and has the benefit of defrosting lightly iced up windows no bother.

Same here.  Lovely soft hose too.  It's nice when I'm organised.

I also think the water being very warm rather than red hot helps with the glass icing up issue.

I done a gutter clean today, actually found it much easier whilst it was frozen. Just pulled it out in big frozen chunks, took me 15 mins to do a 3 bed house. Easy money, the cold does sometimes have its perks!
I can't see how a gutter vac would work though in these conditions.

Left the house at 7:10 to get to the yard then to Henley for a big office clean.. Problem is its right by the train station so couldn't of done it with the water freezing on the ground.. Instead we went for breakfast then sorted lots of stuff out in the van that I've been putting off, dropped pressure washer off for service etc, managed to do £180 from 2:00-3:30, local work we were going to do today anyway. It seemed like a very long day today and it was difficult actually just doing a couple of hours actual work!

Like Lickers said - plan ahead to stop everything freezing in the van. Fortunately our van is parked in a unit too which helps.

-6 when I started. Trad until 7:30am
-5 as I started WFP. Freezing on the glass in conservatory's and porches.
Peaked at -1 ::)roll

And to top it off, I slipped over and smashed my wrist and hip on a customers Indian stone. Builders next door heard me but didn't see. They came rushing round-thought my ladder had slipped.
Not my water, just the frozen dew on the ground Thought it ironic after the 'salting' posts last night.

It will only be rooms in houses that are unheated in which you will get water freezing on the glass like conny and porches...Although we have had no problems the last couple of days..

Worked normal last two days though had to put heater in van for an hour from 8. Only had one pane freeze up which was in a utility room with no heating on!
Who needs hot I say?

-6 for me yesterday then rose to about -2.

Today was a tropical -4 then it got up to 4 degrees by lunch time.

Worked no probs with my corwoods heater. It paid for itself again. :)

Water was fine in van and hose, it was the glass on the office block that was too cold, larrge glass panes were too cold.

My van is always fine wth the oil filled rad in it!
