We have just been asked to tender for a new contract but in the contract details it states that all the staff have to be DBS checked otherwise the contract could be terminated.
I have looked into trying to get one but haven't had any luck withy it and they also require it to be the enhanced check.
Do any companies on here know how to get them done as I am the company owner and operator too but have been told I can only get a basic check done on myself., so how do you guys get this done for yourselves especially people that have contracts working with vulnerable adults/children etc.
Thanks in advance

If you're limited you can get one done on yourself.
I suspect your not though...?
Perhaps the easiest way to get it done is to go to your local volunteering centre and ask to do some volunteering.
They'll do it for you in exchange for some of your time to help your local community.
Win/win.

Last year we secured the cleaning contract on a fairly well to-do private school. One of the criteria we needed to satisfy prior to starting work was any staff needed DBS checks. The truth of the matter was in reality that we had to confirm they'd had DBS checks verbally which is different to actually having them, if you see what I mean.

We use this as recommended by our trading standerds department

And we clean loads of schools

We do a load of schools and everyone is checked - doesn't take long - do it now when it's quiet. As a bonus, the new DBS check isn't limited to one area. It was a real pain then we had to do it for each local authority area.

You will probably find it means they (the staff) have to be willing to submit to a DBS check. It will be the responsability of the people you are contracting too, to check them. Not you. As such they should have systems in place for this. More info...........

You can only get a Basic disclosure yourself for yourself via Disclosurescotland without using a 3rd party agent now.
If you want one in England you have to use a government approved agent - they charge about £35.
