Great to see you on here Herman but your time will probably be wasted on here.

I have joined the group as would love to improve my trad skills. They are certainly not what they were 14 years ago lol. Turn marks everywhere lol.

Ignore the ignorant few you will come across on here and carry on.

Same here, I wouldn't mind improving my squeegee skills especially on interior cleans where you
are restricted on the amount of liquid you can put on the glass.
Will give it a go. Cheers

I just can't believe that some of you established window cleaners can't squeegee, that's comedy gold, it's like a football player not knowing how to kick a ball. Or an accountant who can't count. Brilliant.

As per the OP  ::)roll ::)roll

"So this group is here to help people that like to see how it is actually done with different squeegees.

Myself and SeanK said we wouldn't mind "improving" our trad skills not that we couldn't do it.

I don't fancy buying every wagtail and every swivel  squeegee to find out which one i like.

The OP has a you tube channel with over 500 subscribers.

I like it. Bricklayer by trade since I left school. Been window cleaning about 6 years wfp only. Cant do traditional at all really don't want to don't need to loads of work. But still think I would like the basic techniques, but to be honest if they want a window cleaned with a squeegee get someone else, no problem.  But great skill to have.

All know when starting WC 2002 there was very little information relating to how to use any type squeegee.
YouTube was not an option at that time as well.
There was a few people had a few instructional videos or books you could buy.
But now there are 1000’s of youtube videos relating to how to use squeegees.
All we did is try to get videos that show and explain best of how to squeegee.
So people starting up in WC or just general cleaning they don’t have to troll though all videos to find the information.
If you are interested just join.
If not that’s fine also.
We all started some where.
This should make it a bit easier.  ;)

I just can't believe that some of you established window cleaners can't rag a window, that's comedy gold, it's like a member of the merchant navy not being able to sail a tea-clipper Or a soldier who can't use a muzzle loading musket. Brilliant.

I've just taken on my first employee and I won't train him to squeegee. I can squeegee to a standard, but I am quite slow. For all but quite dirty interior cleans I use cloths - much quicker on regular jobs for me. For awkward things over desks I now use an Easy Shine kit. I can't see the point in spending hours to get to the standard & speed of a trad guy when I only do one job in a blue moon with a squeegee. I don't care if that means I'm not a "proper windy" or the people I will employ aren't "proper windies".

Same here don't really class myself as a window cleaner in the traditional sense, bricklayer by trade. But have loads of work wfp only. Respect to those who can use a squeegee though. Looking through the videos they are great and learnt a few tips.  But enough work wfp only

I can trad. To a decent standard. And with enough speed to make money.
But to say that someone who can't blade isn't a window cleaner just isn't correct.

We use the term 'trad' when we mean to squeegee.
Trad is short for traditional.
People like traditions.
That's why some feel passionate about their skill.

Shammying died out because a better method came along. Blading.
Blading hasn't died out because the fact is that some windows aren't suited to WFP (internals

A heart surgeon would be pretty useless at brain surgery.
And a brain surgeon wouldn't be much cop at heart surgery.
But would one say to the other you're not a 'proper' surgeon? Unlikely.

Some people 'specialise' in cleaning only external windows with WFP.

It doesn't take long to learn how to squeegee and it'sa very handy skill to have.
If you avoid/don't want to then your missing a trick.

Cant believe there are wfp window cleaners that have never used a squeegee, have you never come across
a window above a letter box that leaks into the property that's just one example.

i was 14 (18 years ago) and my mates dad was a shiner.
I used to clean with him on Canterbury High Street of a Saturday morning.
He used to buy us Me and his son) a Maccy D's on the Sturry Road then we'd do a bit in Herne Bay then back to my town (Whitstable) for 2ish to watch the footy and get the alcopops in for Saturday nights shenanigans in the park ('till we got moved on) then the beach.  ;D
Happy, happy days.
(other than my mate (Phil) is an Arsenal fan, his dad is a Charlton fan and, at the time, Chelsea (my team) were fighting relegation every other season so I took a bit of abuse from them)
Loved it though.
