I completed my first clean of my new 'big' commercial contract today. (well it seems big to me).
Im knackerd - i started at 6 this morning and finished at 2 this afternoon (with no break at all).
The client seems happy as he checked twice that i was coming back next month.
Anyway i got thinking to myself at about 11 this morning 'what pays better commercial OR residential?' - after about an hour i was thinking residential - but bigger commercial jobs are good as its a fair wedge of cash for a days graft in one go......but if it rains the commercial job still needs doing, so ill get very wet!
What do you lot think? ??? or ;D

I think commercial are better to be honest.
I know i earn far more money when doing my commercial contracts, and you dont have to wait for payments from individual customers.
One of my commercial contracts means 2 days solid inside, so i like doing that when it rains!
But then some of my commercials are very tiring, as there is no resting driving from street to street. :-\
But then if you want good money you have to work for it eh! ;D

but dont you think that you are subject to the cheapest bid!
alot of my work is in the country so have to do alot of driving! :'(
but it is nice not so much concrete!
but then concrete means windows so more work oh no :-\

I think as long as you build a good rapor with your commercial customers they stay with you. (unless someone comes along that works for £10 an hour that is!)
I think you do have to be flexable with your quote sometimes.(but not too much) I just find it more enjoyable working the same place all day, rather than travelling, and wasting time sitting in the car.

commercial is definately better pay rate....or it should be...but big loss if you lose it, one or two houses ...no probs to lose one or two contracts can make a big dent

Did my first big commercial today too , had the idea it was going to take 4 hours , it took 6.5 , but then the previous company was very shoddy and i wanted to get it up to a high standard first time , the house manager came out near the end of the day to let me know that he had had several calls from the residents saying what a fantastic job i had done , when you think that it is a private retirement home , always the worst for complaints , old people looking out the windows all day .
As JSM would say "Up here for thinkin , down there for dancing " ;D ;D ;D
