Hi Guys
I am now on my 3rd pressure switch (above the demand pump) in as many months. I think that it is something to do with the ball valve in the header tank, as it seems the switch is constantly switching on and off, I think this is burning out the pressure switch.
My question is, do I have to buy this from Prochem? I really do not want to as the spare parts are a rip off, and I'm find them rude!
If I can buy this from a plumbers merchant, what would I ask for
I hope this makes sense, I'm pretty useless with anything mechanical
Thank you in advance
Regards
Justin

Hi Justin
It might be worth you giving GP cleaners a call 01452 731630

I think its just something to do with the valve on the header tank? Surely I can buy this from wicks, B&Q etc?

Try Hydramaster probably around £50 if I remember correctly.

Hi Justin
On my Steamway I had a 15l/min pump fitted and it drains the power, but I needed a strong demand pump to power a spinner hence the one I fitted. It was burning out microswitches in as many weeks as you. Chris at Alltec fitted a relay to take some of the power surge off the microswitch and problem was solved. It was easy to wire in, so I would give him a call.
I dont think it is anything to do with the ball valve - that just tells the pump to switch on or off because the float drops and opens the valve to let in more water provided by the pump.

That's the problem, its not telling the switch to turn of the water. It's just clicking on/off rapidly and burning out the switch

Hi Guys
Chris is your man.
I had two ball cocks go so he fitted me one with a stainless steel connection.
Problem solved.
What I like about Altec is that they know what they are doing and are polite and friendly with it.
Cheers

On window cleaning demand pumps the pressure switches used to go for a pass time. We tried relays but eventually they developed electronic pump controllers which seem to eliminate the problem regardless of the flow or how many times the pump stops and starts. I'm surprised these haven't been adapted for use with truckmount demand pumps.
This is the company which manufactures them http://www.springltd.co/ (http://www.springltd.co/) they also have a section under the suppliers section on this forum.

.............. as it seems the switch is constantly switching on and off........
The pump is meant to switch off and on, Justin. That's why it is called a 'demand' pump. Which Shurflo pump are you using on your machine?

Justin
Not sure if this is your problem, but fitting one of these stops the pump switching on and off (Recycling) as much

Them switches only last about 6 to 9 months, never had it blow fuses do ???

I had the switch on the demand pump go on a regular basis when I had a Blazer.
Not sure if it's possible to do a similar mod to the way my Chemtex machine is now set up where the pressure switch is by passed and rather than a float valve in the header tank there is a float switch similar to this http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/horizontal-float-switch (http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/horizontal-float-switch) which turns the pump on and off?

I know they are meant to switch on and off, but I mean, constantly on/off on/off, no breaks, just repeatedly on & off
