Title: Have you done the annual cull
Post by: Ian101 on January 03, 2015, 12:25:49 am
Feel soooooooo refreshed as not worked since 22nd December  8)

Will be looking at every job on George this weekend and see who is staying / who is going / who is getting a price increase in March  :)

Reckon cull wise I will possibly have under 10 in total ... mainly for slow paying (will be told standing order only for 2015 for these) .. and a few for now being too far from main bulk ( decent price increase may make it worthwhile ? )

Anyone else having a sort out ?

I reckon 2015 gonna be a good year for new customers / add ons as seems to be no shortage of people starting to spend in my area ... shopping parks near me packed out today.

I really need to re-build a bit before culling as I lost a lot of commercial jobs in the past couple of years.  However, there are five who are right at the top of the list for culling once I've taken on a few more.

I had massive sort out this year as my eldest daughter started with me day week, till she's 18 we and took lot new work

So my schedules been all over the place so it's been restructured finally and very happy and see areas or weeks where I need more

I generally replace bad payers when have new ones onboard, sadly the larger your round more likly to have some bad payers few emails or texts seems to Bring in money although you need to be active and keep on top of that side things

Prices are quiet high down in the South so I tend not to put up to regularly, I have minimum £20:00 for 1960's style three bedroom on 6 weekly or £25:00 12 weekly, so it's hard to put up all the time and to be fair compared to prices around the country we have it very easy down here, when I read averages prices some have to work very hard

Couple my friends are around Nottingham and up into Yorkshire price difference is scary,

I was in Leeds a couple of weeks ago and got talking to someone who told me that his 3 bed with 9 windows and 2 doors was cleaned by a full time w/c for £6.

Is that the going rate for that part of the country, he enquired respectfully?

I work differently to most. I tailor my service to suit my customers, ie frequencies to suit them. Some are regulars, others phone me when they need me, and I fit them in around my regulars. I have a limit though. I take them off the books if I haven't seen them for a year. That said, I have some customers who only use me once a year, and except for reluctant/non-payers, I am always willing to take any of my former customers back on.

I've just dropped 20 'not seen for a year' customers. This leaves me with 361.

I see how that can work so long as you keep it to no more than a particular percentage of your work.  I sincerely hope that you charge premium prices for the less frequent/ad hoc jobs otherwise it would probably become a drag on the business.
