Did this Tuesday .....

Can you see the reaction to the cleaning? It rippled quite dramatically, luckily it dried flat, but the customer was a bit worried. It was a good job I had 4 blowers on the van so I could get it dry before I left other wise I don't think the customer would have been happy to pay.
Just posting pics so everyone is aware of it in case they get to clean it and have the same problem

I remember cleaning one of these 25+ years ago, fortunately where I worked we took it to our premises to clean it,it didn't half scare us but as you say it dries completely flat.

Sounds like the (infamous) rippling carpets we occasionally come across.
Now they are scary as they rise before your very eyes.
As you say, thankfully they do dry flat.

Just like the delamination topic being discussed at the moment, we can't reasonably be expected to foresee these type of problems and that covers us if it ever comes to the blame game.

Yep been there, cleaned cold and tight, bit squeaky bum :o

These were refered to as stitch bonded fabrics years ago. The light coloured part is just ' floating' , not connected to the fabric behind it. Different fibres react differently to moisture so you get that puckering effect in the quilting.
Very scary when it happens for the first time and thankfully in my experience not permanent.

Had about 5 carpets in 16 years do the Swiss Alps
Lookalike but always go flat by the next day
Just warn customer before hand

This is different from the Stitchbonded (Pocketweave) fabrics we used to know.... when you looked at the reverse of those older style fabrics you could clearly see the different layers
I had a similar experience last year and there was no indication of what might happen....mine returned to normal as it dried...scary though

Hi Mike!
Thanks a lot for sharing, good to know that it will dry flat after all.
