Title: last job nightmares
Post by: TomCrowther on December 24, 2014, 12:34:26 pm
A neighbour asked me to clean their conservatory roof after having their main roof retiled. No problem, did it last job yesterday. Came up like New. Used the outside tap to rinse of the few bits left. Turned tap off and it sheared off in my hand. Water coming out full bore, at least eight feet into the garden.
Rang bell, informed customer. No isolation for outside tap, had to turn off at the mains which involved emptying a large cupboard of all items, removing bottom shelf etc.
Called plumber and luckily he could come round within the hour. I charged half price, wished her Merry Christmas and went home.
Might be off the Christmas card list next year but it was a very cheap tap.

That's bad news ;D sorry but it is funny, look on the bright side, you can put your feet up for the rest of the week now. Happy Christmas .

Had that happen to me a few years ago. I asked the custy for a set of mole grips, folded over the pipe and tightened them on the end.

It was like that for about six months before she had a new tap fitted.

Talking of nightmares, I refused a tip yesterday. (and got short changed over it too!)

Mr G. pulling a tenner out of his wallet - "Here you go ... have a nice Xmas."

Me - "Oh thanks ever so much Mr G. but Mrs G. gave me a tip 4 weeks ago in case I didn't get this clean in before Xmas."

Mr G. (Laughing) "Oh right, well two tips would be a bit much wouldn't it?"

I couldn't really say "Yebbut your wife only gave me a fiver!" could I?

 ;D ;D ;D
