Title: The Problem with Rug Doctors
Post by: Buckland on December 22, 2014, 09:09:50 pm
Made time to see a 'carpet' today that was 'less than a year old, probably only six months' that had been 'cleaned' after some little accidents by a lickle doggy - well it started out as a few little patches but when it was cleaned with a Rug Doctor it turned into a total right-off.

Problem is you see that this was actually not a 'carpet' at all and the poor deluded homeowner had tried to clean his SISAL FLOOR COVERING with a Rug Doctor - yes its true folks!

To be fair I don't think he would have made a very good job of it even if it was a carpet - the result is well what can only be described as a mess...

Hope the carpet destroyer has contacted rug doctor and the hire company demanding a replacement carpet I had a customer who claimed they have had 2 replacement carpets from rug doctor only called me as she was told not to hire again as they would not be responsible.

last year had a call from rug doctor from uk, they were asking if I can go and sort out wet and smelly carpet after older women had clean it with rug doctor. Once I was told payment will not be done by that women but by rug doctor uk then said no. After 2 hrs he callled me again as he didnt know he called me already, probably took him a lot of time to find an idiot to clean it.

We all know the problem with Rug Doctors but in this instance, it is more the textile problem than the machine.

I was in Tescos yesterday, mentioned to the girl on the till that the rugdoctor display was looking bear, she said, people are hiring it cleaning their carpets, bringing the machine back, complaining and getting a full refund.

It's not the machine. It's the untrained novice that has done the damage.

Give us a fully equipped operating theatre. We still could not do effective brain surgery (even with a manual).

hi jason

yes I walked basicly! The bloke was fairly clueless and a bit charmless but I felt sorry for him as he had family arriving for xmas that afternoon but I said I cannot see any sort of dry poultice/sponge/type treatment being successful enough to justify the cost of treatment/stain removal as opposed to replacement.

Jason - you know that blue master van/tm I had fitted up for hard floors (its got a new diesel burner as well now) I am going to be selling it in new year or are you getting out of carpets/hard floors?

gaz22 nowhere in my post do I say it was the fault of the RD but the use of this type of equipment on any floor covering has inherent risks for amateur operators (are there really professionals that use these things) - Water and gravity means a disaster is just around the corner though with any hire machine - it always amuses me when you get price shoppers who say "Oh that's expensive - fine no I think I'll rent a rug doctor"

mike no problem - do you get work from pinterest? I do twitter but can't be bothered with updating my fb

dave
