Numax 90 or 95 ??? ... split relay charged thru controller ... battery about 3 years old.
Noticed lately that when engine running its taking a charge of low 13's which I understand as normal but today been taking 13.9. ........ when working with engine off controller shows 12.6 to 12.3 by end of day
Today on last job turn tap on ... no water ?? ... controller had turned itself off ... turned it back on and showed 11.2 before it turned itself off ... ran van for 10 seconds and straight away back to 12.3.
??
Upgrading to a 110 over the break just need this to last another 2 days

Get a scrapyard special for a tenner to last you
I always have a spare
Oh and YOU BLIND GIT!!!! ;D
-
yup that blind best be careful reverse parking next to any nice shiny new transit vans ;D

It'll give a bit of a false reading when checking the volts and you've just switched the van off, as the battery will need a bit of time to settle to give a true reading
Sounds like your batteries no longer holding charge although 3 years is pretty good going for a leisure battery thats taken a battering every day

12.7V or over 100%
12.5V 75%
12.4V 50%
12.2V 25%
12V or under Discharged
The battery will recover when you take the load off of it. It takes around 4 hours to stabilise. Any readings before that time won't be accurate as per Don's comment earlier.
Battery sounds knackered to me. There is usually another coupling on the split charge relay that will allow a direct current from your van battery even when the relay is off. I would connect the controller positive to that and cut the leisure battery out altogether. Using your van battery should get you through the next few days. But I would put the charger on it (van battery) every evening.

cheers Don Kee / Spruce .... my "spare" second pump is wired to van battery so can use that if needs be
110 it is then

IT sound lie your battery is on the way out mine Numax 100 amp did the same thing it seams to discharge quickly. I still use it on 12 volt transfer pump. These Numax batteries seam to last 3 years which I am happy with .
These dual batteries are the way to go as the are start up and deep cycle batteries so good for the van start up and pumps
NUMAX CXV35MF
12 VOLT
Dual Purpose

If I could afford it this is the batteries I would have the best money can buy. Master volt. They will come down and be every day use in the next few years.

Must be because of the number of caravans that require the same battery to move the caravan (caravan movers) as well as the usual stuff.

check your wiring,
I had the same problem as you it was the crimp connectors, I have now got rid of them all and have soldered the wires together, now I get over 14v with the engine running, its usually 14.4v before with the crimp connectors it would be mid 13

i just bought the numax leisure battery posted above but 110 amp model and its been great this week, not even charged it once yet!
got my split charger kit today so full charge over the weeend and its going back in the van with this split relay and see how things go but it looks a well built bit if kit!

The battery manufacturers always recommend that you keep the battery fully charged as often as possible. A battery run between full charge and 80% of full charge will last longer than one that has been run down to 50% of charge before recharging.
