Title: Roof Terrace
Post by: steve doyle on April 17, 2006, 09:51:18 pm
HI folks,
I have a pressure washing job this week which includes a large flagged roof terrace (Above mainLounge), it will also need some repointing which made me think where the water will  go if it seeps through the cracks?
one side of me thinks  it is just like a heavy downpoor the other side is thinking caution.

What do you guys think? any advice would be much appreciated,

Regards

Steve

Steve,

Check ceiling of the main lounge for signs of past water damage/cracks/leaks etc, plus take a look at the guttering & runaways on the roof.

Personally I would not touch this job with a pressure washer, better off using a floor scrubbing machine with bristle pad and lightly damp!

Make sure you get the customer to sign a waver before you start the job excluding you from any possible damage/responsibility etc, otherwise walk away!

Thanks for the advice keith,

i went to have another look at it today for obviouse reasons and discovered the whole roof is lead covered underneath with several drainage points coming out 6 inches below the surface of the pavers, i now think it will be fine as it was raining when i looked and the drainage was working.

I will look at the ceiling as you suggested to check for damage but feel if it ok there should be no problems as i am in the north and heavy rain is unfortunatly all to common.

Many thanks

Steve
